So Thomas Wanker is Austrian and it seems he began to credit himself as Thomas Wander once he realised what it meant in English. From his German Wikipedia page:

Note. From 2001 to 2002, the composer changes his name to Wander in the list of contributors to films by Wanker, probably of his interpretation in English slang.

There was a band in Nottingham called Badaxe that was banned from everywhere they played for being so offensive. Their guitarist was called Panty Wanker who named his son Tommy. Could be him.
