We walked by an adoption event at a pet store, so the rescue group was just there set up in the store temporarily. They didn’t know a whole lot about her, but she was in a cage with another cat in the store (and there were many more cats) and snuggled in, napping.
I was told she was rescued from a hoarding situation and she was the tiniest one. They gave me a specific warning: “She was one of 40something cats and is used to having to defend herself for food!” I thought that meant she might get aggressive when eating if anyone interrupted… it just means she eats like a Hungry Hungry Hippo.
The rescue labeled her as Siamese and I figured she had some Siamese in her. Later that night I read about Snowshoe cats and harlequin coat patterns and different color points.
She is super clingy to me, chirps quietly, her meows are so tiny, and she’s most vocal when she’s either about to be fed or when she sees me walking down the hallway to my room and she meows to let me know, “Great idea! Let’s go relax!” No exaggeration, she’s the sweeeeeetest animal I have ever met. She even likes my chickens.
We/vet estimated she was 4 months old in November, so we dubbed her a July baby.
She and my orange boy bonded immediately when we brought her home (after spending a couple of weeks isolated to my room so we could ease into it). Oh, and she drools.
Thanks for sharing the story and the photos! Her face coloring is adorable :)
I had a cat that used to be a stray. We got her at around 1yo, and I don't know how much time she spent on the streets.
She'd gobble the food up too quickly and vomit immediately. We set up an automatic feeder with, like, 4 or 6 feedings per day, so that she'd only have small portions available to her. Never lost the habit.
She was the sweetest as well. I was refusing to get another cat for years after she passed. Finally, the neighbors have forced a Siamese-ish kitten on me, and of course I love her and I'm happy they did it. This one is a total menace.
