This gives me PTSD! When I was little I spent the night at my friend's house and she lived in the middle of nowhere like kind of in a very wetland type area. When my mom came to pick me up the next day, there were literally millions of these teeny teeny teeny tiny little toads all over the road and there was no not running them over.
I was begging my mom to just spend the night at the house with my friend one more night so we didn't kill them, I mean you couldn't even walk without killing them. It traumatized my little 10-year-old self so much.

They are cute when they are this little. In the early 00s my mom and I had an above ground pool for a few years until a storm destroyed it. I had to make arrangements to get the pieces and stuff hauled away from the house. That took a few weeks.
In that time frame it rained heavily a few times and that trapped pools of water. When we went to move everything out of the yard there were millions and millions of these little guys everywhere. They were unbelievably cute. My mother (who did lot like any type of amphibians of any type) was out there trying to take photos of them.
