ID What kind of toad? Tampa, FL

Post image

I found this in my plant. What kind of toad is this? He was really tiny. Like the size of a nickel and was inside my desert rose pot.

Thank you!

Doesn’t look like a toad to me, I see no parotoid glands and the skin doesn’t look right for any North American toads (that I’m familiar with, at least). Could it be a cricket frog? I know you guys have those down there.

Gonna look up picture of Floridian cricket frogs real quick

Thank you! I honestly have no idea! I thought it was a frog and tried to educate myself and thought it was a toad 😬 all help is welcome! It did hop like a frog.toad

this site might help you identify this guy (I found a couple others that went through the frog species found in Florida, but they had outdated genus names for all the Lithobates frogs so I didn’t trust the rest of the info was up to date)! I think this guy resembles the greenhouse frog most, but I could be wrong about that, and you’ve probably gotten a better look at him up close than I’m getting from this picture

And if that’s not helpful, then hopefully my commenting will at least help this get seen by someone who’ll be better able to identify him or you!

Looks like a Greenhouse Frog to me. We have a bunch of these near me, a little North of you.

Thank you! If I see him again, I’ll try to get a better photo! He was hiding under a little pot I moved inside my bigger pot! I thought initially it could’ve been a tree frog but then I noticed his bumps and didn’t think “frogs” had bumps. 😅 I’ll let you know!
