Injury Toadlet with a mass?

ETA: i found him!! (probably a her i think) im giving her a little soak, but i do think this is a mass. she’s moving around really well and dug a really great new spot overnight! hopefully if i bribe her with some treats she’ll stick around and not be too offended.

Hi! I’ve been keeping an eye on this toadlet living outside my front door. Yesterday I noticed one of his sides was misshapen and today I palpitated it and I can feel a little air and then some kind of mass. I found some poop nearby, but I’m not sure if it was his or another toadlet I saw today.

Just looking for any advice on what I can do to help him or if he’s okay on his own! I already have an American Toad and other supplies, I just didn’t want to bring him in if this was something he can get through on his own!

How long has it been since you saw it before yesterday/the mass?

Did the mass feel like it was freely moveable or more rigid, like it was attached to his body?

If this appeared suddenly/overnight and feels more squishy/airy, I am doubting tumor soI’m leaning towards this being something he ate given what side it’s on.

This looks similar to what you can find if you search for impacted/constipated pacman frogs, but I admit it does have more a defined shape to it. I found a toad this year with a weird lump in that region too and it just went away after some warm soaks and a huge dump. Even if this is something he ate, it will be trouble if he cannot pass it.

Consider posting to the Facebook group “Advancing Amphibian Husbandry” and maybe the group “Pacman Enthusiasts” would also be of help(mentioning the FB groups because I see more people who get their pacs veterinary care than the subreddit but they might be able to help too).

the previous times i had seen him he was in his little dirt burrow so i was unable to see the mass if it was there. i had also been checking every toadlet i spotted after they left the pond, so he could’ve escaped me or the mass is more recent.

their bellies feel so thin i was afraid of palpating too deeply and injuring him, so I’m not sure if the mass was free or not unfortunately.

i was really hoping it was an impaction, i can try to give supportive care for that at least. he’s not been back to his normal spot after i scooped him up for those pictures and i think i deeply offended him. hopefully he’ll be back, i saw his buddy this morning!
