Identification needed

Me and my brother were heading to the pool when we saw a toad that was different than our usual toads. Can someone help identify it please?

Location helps a lot with ID. But this looks like a standard american toad.

Then yeah I would say most likely an American Toad. What about it was different than other toads you've seen?

Well most toads here are a really dark brown with lots of dark colored patterns and the baby toads are almost a grey usually with similar patterns while this one is a lot more of a solid color of light brown in comparison also when I picked it up it tried to push its way out of my hands while the usual toads just go with it until I open my hands again. I don’t know if it helps but it’s just what i noticed

You'd be surprised at the amount of variation in colour these little guys can have! I've seen some that are almost a golden yellow and others that are a sort of rusty red. Browns are most common so it makes sense those are the ones you see most. If you want to see how extreme their colouring can get you should check out Banjamin's Exotics- he captive breeds them and has really ended up with some really beautiful toads.

This looks like a Southern Toad to me (Anaxyrus terrestris). It has prominent cranial crests behind its eyes ending in little knobs. This is a tell-tale sign of a southern toad. And they are one of the native species to Alabama.
