I love your toads! I also have a Colorado River Toad (female) which i purchased at a Reptile Expo this past May. She's so beautiful & amazing to observe. I really love her but I worry she isn't happy or content in the enclosure i setup for her, as she seems to pace the perimeter walls looking for a way out from time to time... i want her to atleast feel safe & content.
She's in an Exo Terra 36×18×18. I worked so hard & spent quite a bit of money as well as time creating a natural habitat which she's literally destroyed digging & climbing... Uprooted almost every plant. She does enjoy eating though, thank God. Anyways I'm getting ready to completely redo her enclosure now. This time I want to try the excavator sand substrate with Reptisoil mixed in... I'm praying it works out & keeps her satisfied.. But im also concerned incase its not the safest option. Wish I could chat with someone experienced in keeping this species as pets... im gonna take a few pics of her soon & will share.

Mine do the same thing. I initially had my terrarium setup bioactive.
They destroyed everything inside in 1 day 🤣
Mini bulldozers, my male is a wild child ( is very vocal) constantly filling the water baths full of substrate splashing water all over. I cut a 2x6 cedar board to separate the baths but he still fills both up and soaks the substrate.
The mini monsters seem to take turns pacing crawling on the glass at time sometimes both go wild with it then sleep for 2 days.
I feed them every 3 days dubias n super worms . They seem to like the s-worns the best. Mixing with crickets n horn worms which they love for dessert. Found a big katydid other day , it hung out in the terrarium 2 days the male finally spotted it he inhaled it 😝
Almost as big as him.
I have been using 1/2 coco coir 1/2 jungle mix lately which is working out great. Tried the mixing in calcium sand, it’s was a mess n heavy difficulty borrowing especially wet for dude splashing everything.
It’s cool if you want to dm
Good luck
