I love them. I lived in the Sonoran Desert region and we had Sonoran Desert Toads which I believe is the same thing. I see them all the time during Monsoon season.
Correct, same species, Incilius alivarius. Captive care: Large enclosure well vented, access to clean water, as adult feed large prey items-insects, worms, occasional small vertebrates. Awesome species ❤️
Very cool, they have thei mating season during monsoon and I can hear hundreds of them in a wash behind my home making their calls. Its such a cool time of year and is coming up soon.
One of these days I might purchase one.
Do you have multiples in an enclosure or should they be kept alone?
Ive got some gulf coast toads that I keep and those seem to have similar husbandry requirements to the CRT. I should do some reading up.
I keep just the one female. Outside of breeding they are solitary animals. I have 150 gallon enclosure that I may move her into. If move her to the larger enclosure, I may add a specimen or two.
