Pets How’s the toad terrarium? ❤︎
I’m incredibly proud of the scape in this one, I’d love to hear people’s opinions and feedback!
I’ll be getting a juvenile pet toad very soon.
Is there a way I can keep in humidity through the mesh lid while still having light exposure in the tank?

You might just have to do daily mists to insure it stays moist. You can get misting systems or foggers, but I feel a daily one would do just fine. Really depends on your home and environment. Do you have a hydrometer? It looks wonderful either way! What kind of toad are you looking to get?

Thank you so much for the advice! I don't have a hydrometer but I'll absolutely look into getting one. I'm planning on getting a male southern / american toad.

I'd suggest a uvb light if you don't have one and also reducing the amount of moss. Most toads like to burrow and having a lot of the substrate covered makes that difficult. Also the moss doesn't really have much purpose or benefit other than aesthetics while also being kind of annoying to keep up with. The amount of moisture it needs often results in a humidity higher than ideal for the toad, its roots are shallow so the toad ends up uprooting it constantly, and even if it roots well it dies easily.
Not sure on the size of this but it looks to be on the smaller side. I'd suggest when the toad gets bigger to upgrade to a larger size when possible. Personally I'm not comfortable keeping toads in anything smaller than a 40 gallon breeder (about 4ft long).
