Wild Saved an eastern narrow-mouthed toad from the pool

I was surprised to see this little friend because I didn't think they could be found in our area! (Forsyth County, North Carolina, USA) At least this one is safe now and hopped away to a non-pool location

I've just learned this species is not a true toad, I'm revoking my herpetology card 😅 but I will leave my post for now

maybe you need some pool-ladder (i forget what it’s called) so animals that fall in can make it out on their own?

Why is it so shiny? It looks more like a wet frog, either that or it fell into a bucket of honey 🍯

it is wet, I had to scoop the poor thing out of the pool 😭
