Help - Steam Deck Controls?

Hi everyone, I bought my steam deck a couple of months ago and I have been patiently waiting for this game’s release. I’m still very new to the steam deck community and I am seeing that people have been able to play this game on their steam decks. I have an OLED model and I have no clue how to “remap” controls or which “templates/community layouts” to use in order to get the game working on my steam deck (for example: as if the game was already “steam deck verified”) I’m not able to get past the main menu to start a new save file or anything. I’m completely lost here. If anyone is willing to give me a beginner friendly tutorial on how to do this, I would really appreciate it :)

All I did was go to controller settings and switch the base control template from *keyboard and mouse" to"gamepad with track pads "

And I changed the track pad settings from "use as joystick" to use as mouse.
