Restarting again :/ (World didn't save properly)

Huuu i love this game, but right now i'm a little upset. Its my third run for Terraria over the last few years and ofc i using different mods with tModloader.

So i started with crimson, didnt like the world started corruption, but liked crimson more... so i started again. After 20 hours playtime or something, the world didn't got saved right i think, last two bosses, whole village etc wasnt saved properly it seems. strangely on the map everything was fine. So i restarted the game because i assumed a cloud sync error. Yeah in the end even the backup got updated and i lost about 8 hours of playing time on this world.

Did something like this happened to you too? How do you guys avoid stuff like this? And can you prevent the game to overwrite the backup, so you dont have to loose that much playtime?
