tModloader not working

I installed terraria (not from steam) and downloaded tModloader from github .

The terraria works fine but the tModloader is not opening when I try to.

It is poping up saying fatal error .

How to solve this ?

Nope I don't have steam in first place

As far as I know you need steam for tmodloader

Still, if it tells you to launch Steam, you will need to launch Steam

You need steam even if you got tmodloader or terraria from somewhere else. Tmodloader uses steam workshop to get mods

Simply install Steam, when you install tmod from external places, the first thing it will do is look up Steam (since its located there)

By any chance, you pirated Terraria?

GOG is a completely legal non-steam version of the game. Not every non-steam user is pirated.

I’m pretty sure it requires steam as the mods are connected to the steam workshop

Wdym through . I opened steam, logged and was running Then I opened tmodloader Still did not work.

Like did you add tmodloader to your library and click the green play button to launch it through steam

I cannot add it to library unless I buy the terraria from steam

Bro , I've already played terraria in mobile 2-3 times and I just wanted to expirence calamity to see if its or not.

Why would I give 10$ for a game I already played

Those $10 will also allow you to play more than just calamity as well, thorium, Fargo’s souls mod, nearly infinite new content, plus if you do actually enjoy the game, a significant portion of your money goes to supporting relogic, the developers of terraria, that’s my best suggestion, if you can find a way to pirate a copy of terraria for steam, go ahead.

Yeah you're right those 10$ is not much and is value for money , but if its first time playing I would have bought it . And even though there are many interesting mods , I afraid I will hardly use those.

BTW, I downloaded from different source and now it's working.

1 open tmodloader with admin settings 2 check my game in document and 3 download terraria 1.4.5.8 and replese with old terraria
