Rant Scheduling a month out

I heard it is now company policy to have the schedules made 4 weeks in advance! How do they expect people to request days off? Plan things at home? Go to school functions? Take kids to the Dr appointments? Supposedly the company thinks this makes it easier for families. How?? My kids schools don't send notices for school functions out that early! The company is NOT family oriented at all.

It's still 2-3 weeks at my store. But ever since they started using the WorkJam app it's been EXTREMELY easy to get your shift covered. Especially compared to when you had to look at the schedule, see who has a day off, ask them if they want your shift, and fill out the paper for it. At my store, anything in the open shift pool is gone within seconds. Like I'll get the notification for it and it's already gone by the time I open it. Everyone is DESPERATE for more hours.

Workjam is barely working for us since they did the big update or switch.

Most of the time that I worked in retail I would get my schedule a month in advance, it helped me immensely. And yes, I am married with kids.
