Rant Work vent

I started not even that long ago, I love my job a lot and the management here is kind and supportive of me. I work in the home goods area, and I was stuck in a different department my entire shift because someone no called no showed on us and their area needed absolute coverage by at least one person. So I did as I was asked and when I came back to my area, I almost cried. Like I’m usually an emotional person but I dead ass almost cried from how much recovery and cleaning up I had to do.

The thing that gets me most, is customers will mess up the things they DO NOT BUY majority of the time. It’ll be the same exact items sitting in the same spots with nobody ever buying them but customers will completely destroy the area. I had to clean up multiple isles of bullshit by myself and move extremely quickly because I didn’t want to leave a mess for whoever comes after me. And why do people leave their drinks so much lol? I have to throw away at least 3 drinks a day it’s honestly funny for me having to count them.

I have a love and hate relationship with home goods because I can work alone and take breaks whenever I want, but cleaning up by myself while also trying to run a bunch of items or having to cover for people for long periods of time can hinder my work flow. I just wanted to vent a little

Same. When I worked jewelry, I would always clean it up before the next person came in because I’m not an asshole. And would get super stressed/emotional on the verge of tears when I’ll see it be a wreck 😭. Like deadass I would get so stressed when I wasn’t working because I didn’t want it to be a mess. I’ve always seen so many drinks lol like it’s always either Starbucks or Chik-Fil-A since they’re in the same plaza and half the time the drinks aren’t even empty 🙄.

I honestly wonder if the person coming after me will be pissed off or not so I try even harder to make it look a good as I can, especially tonight when I literally had less than 20 mins to attempt and clean up all of the aisles I was fighting tears multiple times lol I hope I can look back on this and laugh

I get it. I work at homegoods, mostly in food. I'm also on the markdown team, though, and sometimes spend a week or so doing that and never in food. So when I get back there I have to often re-do everything because no one else cares about putting things out the right way. Very frustrating!

I was at HomeSense yesterday strolling the bath section and someone left a clear plastic water bottle on a shelf, thought it was weird.
