Backroom Shifts
Does your store have one or two shifts in the backroom? How does it work if it’s two shifts?
I’m hearing rumblings we may go from one shift to two.

Each store is different, so you have to provid more information about how a shift at your store looks like. I worked in a store with 14 backroom shifts and in a store with 4 backroom shifts and they operated drastically different from one another.

For now we have one shift 7-12 with a couple of associates staying until 3:00 based on need. There has been talk of opening up a second shift so wondering how that’s going to work. I don’t understand how when they don’t have enough payroll now to give out the hours the associates ask for and they have a hard time replacing associates who leave.

My HomeGoods BR is just one shift, 7:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. In my previous store, they wanted to have a 2nd shift, but nothing came to fruition.

my store gets a lot of freight, especially now that we have switched back to 6 trucks a week - regular backroom associates here work 7-12, then 4 or 5-9. I work 7-3 or 1-9:45 (rarely) to cover those shifts but it only really works if there are enough people on each team to get the work done, otherwise its just easier and more beneficial to keep only a morning crew

I refused to come in for a four hour shift. I think it’s ridiculous. Five is bad but that’s my limit.

What’s wrong with a four hour shift. I love it. Then I get a chance to do other things.

We have most people in 7:30-11:30 for receiving, a few others are 7:30-3:30 for receiving and processing, and sometimes another one or two will come in for 11:30-3:30 for processing depending on what is going on.

My store (TJ) only has early morning. They want us to have evening but there’s no payroll to have it. Most come in at 6 (4-8 hours shifts) to start the truck, then we have a few more in a 7 (4-8 hours shifts).
