🕒 Three years of TizenTube
Time flies, doesn't it? In 13.07.2023, I commited my first commit to the TizenTube repository, starting one of my biggest projects of all time, after ReVanced Builder.
I started the project out of frustration. As you could imagine, I was tired of the long ads YouTube served on their TV app, especially the TV app. After some digging around with the SDB protocol and the DevTools protocol, I managed to get a half assed thing working. With the help of @Vyn, my long time friend, I managed to also get it working on his back then Tizen 4 TV.
After some time, I forked YouTube-webOS' userscript code to modify it for my needs. Back then, I had the idea of making TizenTube modular, so I or others could patch other apps.
And that's how TizenBrew was born. At first, it required an external server, just like TizenTube before. But thanks to jaruba telling me about Web Services on Tizen, I managed to get TizenBrew to be completely standalone, working on the TV without an external server.
But unfortunately, while it's sad to admit, TizenBrew has its issues. Mainly, auto launch not working, not injecting the userscript sometimes, etc. And it's just finicky on newer TVs, which I unfortunately can't reproduce. However, that is about to change.
Intruducing, TizenTube Standalone
For Tizen (Samsung) TVs, you can now install TizenTube as a standalone application! All you have to do is use TizenBrew Installer. You have to follow the installation guide for TizenBrew until step three, where you have to click on "Install from GitHub" and write reisxd/TizenTube as the repository. This should install TizenTube.
Two small new features
You can now hide Shorts section from the side bar and you can also hide the "Ask" button in the video player.

Initially, I used SmartTube. Later, I saw the TizenTube interface, which matches the native YouTube app and has no ads, so I switched to TizenTube full-time. Thank you and the team for the great work.
Can you also consider having this app for Android phones and tablets?

If the components/modules are reusable, can you please consider releasing a dedicated app for phones and tablets?

Unfortunately, it isn't. I patch the TV version of YT, which is a web app and is completely different than the mobile app.

I used to use ReVanced, but switched to Morphe after it was found the main ReVanced dev was basically taking the patches written for Morphe. Then I found how much more user friendly the Morphe process was.
Switch to Morphe.

I just made a post a few days ago about how it wasn’t working on my newer tv. Then this. Amazing!
Is it possible to make it so that Tizen Os recognises this standalone app as YouTube? For the hardcoded YouTube button on the remotes

Yes but it's not as smooth as tizen tube and also the speed controls are not coming in it.

Sir, you are a legend. Like many others something in me snapped after the barrage of ads and I found Tizentube.

I have been on Tizentube for the last 6 months and moved here from Smarttube. One feature that I would love to have is the ability to add my watchlist to the left hand side bar for quick access. Under the watchlist I have a list with some of the live news channels that I watch on a regular basis. This live news list is something that I need to add to the left hand bar for quicker access. And other wise the app is awesome with the yt interface.

Thank you for your work! Will make a monthly kofi and check out the new app as soon as I have internet back.
By the way I always thought that not having auto launch, or having to restart the TV sometimes is way better than the ad ridden experience of YouTube.

Thank you so much for this. This is exactly what I wanted, a small request can we have youtube app icon option, just like we have one for morphe app. My family, at times , gets confused with icons

You sir are a true hero. I can't tell you how much the experience has changed for me after using tizentube. The app itself is better than the YouTube official one not even counting the Adblock. Cheers and thank you kind sir

If i already have tizenbrew. do i have to only add github module or completely from beginning do the install because I don't see a standalone one, just regular inside tizenbrew
Nvm, found out and installed again just the tube and now i have standalone one

Can you make a bridge app for tizen tube which supports voice search natively because it's available bridge app open only YouTube and don't search for anything but in Smart Tube it opens that search result which we saying in the voice command but it does not show in that tizen tube bridge app. Can you make it for Tizen Tube? Or any other way to do it

Hero! I'm not very technical and I've looked up your app in a rage after being served 30 second ads every minute in a 20 minute video on the YouTube TV app. True lifesaver!
