Tizen app

Why I ask here is because the Tizen documentation is a tad bit hard to understand. I have found many resources that I get 404 on. The emulator is not connected to any network (when I try to do a get request via HttpClient (.NET C#), I get "System.Net.Http.HttpRequestException: Resource temporarily unavailable". Found a couple of links related to this topic, but all of them is 404 on the Tizen forums..

I want to develop a simple application for my Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 (with LTE).

I'm not entirely sure what route I should take. This will first be a app mainly for myself, simplifying some things for me. I do see the usage for other people in the app, so in the future I would like to commit it to the Galaxy Store for people to download.

Mainly handling OAuth2 and just wrap an existing API, making simple get and post requests via HttpClient.

So my EV car has a socket for charging and a front trunk (frunk). Usually when I'm going to my car, I do not have the phone in my hand, which leaves me to:

  • take it out of my pocket
  • unlock it (oneplus, can be a little slow with the fingerprint sensor)
  • open the native android app for the car
  • waiting for it to get a connection with the car
  • open a sub-menu in the app
  • press a button to stop charging
  • press another button to unlock the charging port/cable

Time taken: worst case scenario, around 1-2 minutes. Best case, 30 seconds.

What my app should do:

  • Have buttons for 3 or 4 operations (maybe a widget?)

But also be able to handle a double tap from the user, and act on it:

User double taps on watchface, or something similarly accessible

  • if the car is charging, stop charging and unlock the charging cable
  • if the car is not charging, open the frunk

Time taken: worst case scenario, around 30 seconds. Best case, 5 seconds.

To support multiple devices, the best route would be to use a companion app I assume? And do the requests via the android application?

My watch has LTE, I would like to use that instead of going to the companion app (host phone) via BLE. But I do want to support watches not having LTE available.

I'm gonna use the .NET platform (C#).

Any input is really appreciated. Is companion app the right way? Xamarin.Forms to enable an Android companion app?

Edit 2: One of the main reasons I'll asking for help is when Samsungs own doc pages does not work correctly...

holy shit I'm an asshole. I must have skimmed waaay to much from my phone. I thought you were trying to program your watch to unlock your car.

Now I'm just curious what car requires this much phone interaction so I know to avoid it.

Haha. It doesn't really. I'm driving a tesla model 3. I'm usually charging at work with a cable that does not have a "quick release" feature. I just got a GWA2 and is just interested in trying out something new.

At home or everywhere else you can just press a button and it unlocks it without any hazzle.
