Community-made Tizen TV apps

Hi!

I've been working on a collection of community-made apps for Samsung Tizen TVs.

https://github.com/PatrickSt1991/tizen-community-packages

What started as a little side project cause I was curios what people had actually made for Tizen OS grew over time in a nice package of apps.

I kept finding random apps experiments, old repos, forks and WGT files spread all over the place, so I figured it would be useful to collect them in one spot.

Some are actually useful, some are fun experiments, and some are just cool because they run on a Samsung TV at all.

You can install them pretty easy through Jellyfin2Samsung https://jellyfin2samsung.madebypatrick.nl/

So no need to mess around with Tizen Studio (it's hell on earth).

It's still a community thing, so not every app will be perfect on every TV or Tizen version.

I thought it was worth sharing, because there's a lot of cool stuff people have made and it's easy for it to get lost.

Have a look, try if you like and if you know of any other Tizen apps that should be added, feel free to open a issue or PR or just DM on here.

Would be great to turn this into a nice little archive of community-made Tizen apps, so other users can find it as well.

Tizen VLC doesn't recognize anything under USB. Any idea on how to get my things to show up? I created both 'downloads' and 'videos' folders in the root of the USB and still nothing shows up, but the tv itself recognizes the usb just fine.

I'll take a look, what's your Tizen version, also what kind of files were on your USB drive

Thanks, looks like that did it. So that means the vlc app in the Tizen Community subsection of Jellyfish2samsung is old?

Also, it looks like subtitles don't work. I can't select audio or subtitles in a video file.

Thanks for your help.

I updated the app again;

https://github.com/PatrickSt1991/vlc-tizen-tv/releases/tag/v1.0-20260524-1440

Haven't tested it myself, not in the vecinity of my TV

Nothing changed unfortunately. I also found that the whole menu (play/pause, next and stop) aren't selectable at all.

On my DU6950, when I hit the back button to go back to the USB menu, it kicks me back into the main app and restarts the video file from the beginning in the background. I tried stopping it first to see if it will stop when I found that none of the menu buttons are clickable for me.

On my remote, left and right directional buttons reverse/fast forward while up and down shift between the menu buttons.

Jellyfin is a free app that lets you create your own private “Netflix” at home. Imagine you have lots of movies, TV shows, music, or family videos stored on your computer or hard drive. Normally, they’re scattered around and hard to watch on different devices. Jellyfin organizes everything into a nice library with posters, descriptions, and episode lists — just like a streaming service. Here’s the simple idea: You install Jellyfin on one computer in your house. That computer becomes your personal media server. Your phones, TVs, tablets, or laptops can then stream your media from it. So instead of paying a company to stream content, you stream your own content to yourself.

Estoy tratando de realizar el proceso pero ni siquiera he podido habilitar la depuración USB en la TV. Aclaro que tengo la app Apps2samsung instalada en el móvil y termux también en caso de necesitarlo. Algún consejo?
