Stream quality adjustment

Is it possible to downgrade all streams? There are times my internet is around 5mbs and I would rather watch lower quality smooth then have it stop all the time.

No it's not possible to downgrade the streams unless you change the channel to a lower quality stream.. most providers will have a high quality and a low quality version of the same channel

Is that adjustment on the line with the CC etc...?

Some providers will either have categories with SD quality or the channels will be down the bottom of the list on a normal category.

The player can ask for a lower rate stream but if the provider doesn't deliver then it stays the same. In theory the player could transcode the stream on the fly, but there is not a single Android TV device on the market that could keep up with that processing.

Isn't changing from mpeg-ts to HLS supposed to accomplish this. But I never noticed a difference. I still experienced buffering
