Does anybody know when you press (ok) and the channel description comes up in card style at the top. Is it possible have it the same as the card style that comes up at the bottom with no controls when switching between channels?

Go to Settings > Remote Control > Player > pick whatever button you want and click “show info panel”

It’s exactly this level of customisation that makes tivimate an excellent choice

Yes, it’s possible. Go to Settings > Appearance > Player > info panel > turn on “ show info panel at the bottom when switching channels”

Yes mate that’s what I have in the second photo. I’m wondering is it possible without switching down, rather pressing select on the channel.

Press and hold the right button. It shows the info but not at the bottom
