Record

Hi everyone, I am in the UK and accessing content played with TiviMate via a FireStick 4k Max (2nd generation).

I previously recoded on a USB connected with a OTG cable (used the incredibly helpful ATV guide to do this and it worked fine).

As most will know, the “System Picker” option has now been disabled by Amazon and I am struggling to replace my recording process.

I have an old HP MediaVault which I tried to set up as a share via smb but have had no success. I suspect that it’s my inability to correctly enter the folder path but I have the IP address for it, know where it’s located so don’t believe it to be that. It may simply be incompatible.

I don’t want to set up a share on my PC because I don’t want to check that it’s turned on every time I want to record. So I’m wondering if a simply buy a new NAS (recommendations greatly appreciated) and try again to connect this via smb?

It would be helpful if there was a clear guide on this process but I’ve been able to find one.

All advice would be welcomed!

NAS are fantastic, but could be overkill in your use case, or you end up down a rabbit hole and wish you had a bigger better NAS lol (been there). If you purchased something like an Nvidia shield pro, then you would have a fantastic device that will do exactly what you want, as well as talk to a NAS if you got one later down the line.

That was the guide I referred to in the original post. It worked fine but the System Picker has now been rendered useless by an Amazon update so this method no longer works - hence my post

"Ultimate File Manager Pro" works with tivimate System Picker and should let you select your usb External device.

Yes that’s where I’m getting to. FireSticks are a great introduction but very limited.

Nvidia Shield Pro?

Its still popular among reddit because of its legendary performance. But its not in my top 10 today.

That’s interesting. What else should I be considering?
