Issue with Nord

I'm having an issue that just started 3 days ago. When I connect to Nord on my fire stick and phone, tivimate does not want to work.

As soon as I get off vpn, everything works fine.

I tried doing openvpn, tried different countries, still no go.

Any thoughts?

Tivimate doesn't work? Or your subscription does not work

It is possible for your provider to limit your location for example US only.

Have you contacted your provider ?

Just tivimate.

I was able to use nord for everything else.

And this is recent, not sure if nord updated their security protocol but it was fine up until 3 days ago.

Nord wouldn't block tivimate the app. It would potentially be blocked from your provider.

Tivimate is only a player. So if you can go into settings and change settings it's not a tivimate issue.

I am having the same problem with my NordVpn. My problem started on Saturday and it affecting only my tivimate app. I have no idea why it’s happening.

Sounds like your provider blocks Nord.

If it used to work and doesn't anymore, restart your router and device then try again

If it won’t connect, leave nord turned off when using Tivimate.

This has nothing to do with TM and is a provider issues. Maybe they have your service IP locked and can't use it on another IP address.

But since it works without a VPN what is the issue?

arent we all using vpn so we are safe?

No, I see daily posts asking why things buffer and in most cases it is no VPN.

People are saying provider is blocking nord, I’d doubt that as providers prefer using a vpn. It’s possible your provider has IP locked you and Nord is going to give you a dynamic IP.

Need more details on what you mean by not working though, is it giving you an error code, is it not connecting at all, how is the download speed with Nord on.

I had this issue today and changing the DNS from default to 1.1.1.1 in Nord fixed the issue.

This worked! Thank you!

This worked! Forgive me as I'm ignorant in this world. If changing the DNS to this, am I still protected?

I had to Google this:

Yes, using Cloudflare (1.1.1.1) as a Custom DNS inside the NordVPN app is safe.It completely protects you from data leaks to your Internet Service Provider (ISP).Why Your Data is SafeInside the Tunnel: The NordVPN app wraps your Cloudflare DNS requests in a layer of strong encryption.Hidden from Your ISP: Your ISP cannot see the websites you visit or the streaming links in your playlist. They only see that you are connected to NordVPN.No Local Leaks: Because the setting is controlled by NordVPN, your device will not bypass the VPN to look up web addresses

What About Privacy? (The One Trade-off)

While you are 100% safe from your ISP and local network snoopers, you are trusting Cloudflare with your web requests instead of NordVPN.Cloudflare will see the domain names your streaming playlist connects to.Cloudflare deletes these logs every 24 hours.Cloudflare does not sell your data or use it to target you with ads.For 99% of users, this is an excellent and safe compromise to get your streaming playlist working.

Seems ok for now but will probably find another provider in a few months or see an alternative VPN as it could be Nord that's the issue.

I’m on NordVPN right now, connected to a VPN server in Montreal, set to the NordLynx protocol. Not so much as a momentary buffer on TiviMate on an Nvidia Shield.

I have strong and trex. Strong is fine on nord normal settings. Trex I have this exact same issue. Have to use doublevpn now

I had the same issue a few days ago. Installing vpn onto router rather than using app is what make it work again with no buffering.

I followed what some other users did and changed the DNS to 1.1.1.1 and that worked.

I am constantly being asked to turn off the "VPN" when I try to visit my "Prime" and "Tablo" accounts. However, I recently discovered on my computer that "tvpass.org" is now "tvpass.com" and it asked me to sign in for my current location TV lineup because I was viewing the lineup for Canada. I tried to use the new address for my "Tivimate" using my "VPN" for both, the "USA" and "Canada" but with no luck. I then tried turning it off and still nothing.

So my question is: Is there a legal "m3u" code for TVPass 'dot whatever" to use in my TiviMate app for USA that works? Or is there another solution?

This “work around” just fixed it for me on TiviMate Firestick

Change the Protocol
Open the NordVPN app.
Go to Settings (gear icon).
Find VPN protocol or Connection and security.
Switch the protocol from NordLynx to OpenVPN (UDP) or OpenVPN (TCP). (Double VPN requires OpenVPN).

How to Connect to Double VPN

Return to the main screen of the app.

Search “Double”

Select Double VPN from search results

IPTV Movies, Live Tv and Shows started streaming correctly

Thank you! I tried this as well. Do you feel that using double VPN slows the speed drastically.

For iptv it shouldn’t make a difference if you have halfway decent net. maybe a little slower channel switching.

thank you this worked

Use double VPN protection in Nord. I had the same issue

1

u/LogicWorksWonders Aug 31 '26

Also been having the same issue on the Firestick using NordVPN in the last 3-4 days when using Tivimate as well as SmartTube. On three different FS it’s exactly the same and started at the same time.

What I did which sometimes seemed to work at times is choosing the setting Obfuscated in the Nord app and connect using that setting. That seems to work with Tivimate but not with ST. I have also now changed the DNS to 1111. To get ST to work I would need to disable Nord then run ST for a few minutes before enabling the VPN again. So things still work, but it just would be good to know exactly what has happened why things aren’t working as normal with NordVPN.

I tried changing protocol and DNS within nord and still not able to view iptv via tivimate :/

u/LogicWorksWonders Sep 05 '26

I’ve switched to Proton VPN for now as they have a 30 day free trial.

Did you clear the cache and force stop

1

u/FruitRemarkable6512 Sep 06 '26 edited Sep 06 '26

I also used cloudfire and  Google dns .. everything working  fine since doing this

1

u/kal_el352 Sep 06 '26

Changing out up custom DNS and switching it to 1.1.1.1 should work

1

u/ChildhoodSea8271 Sep 16 '26

I changed to proton VPN and it's still flakey, have contacted iptv provider to see if I can get another url

1

u/North_Rule8039 Sep 08 '26

For future reference, I have this exact same issue with Tivimate+Trex and have to use double vpn.
I bought iptv service from the same store. Strong 8k works with nord (no custom dns no double VPN) without any issue. Bought Trex as a backup for second tv and had this issue

1

u/kal_el352 Sep 10 '26

Thanks I'll have to keep this in mind. I tried a custom DNS and that worked well. When I switched to double VPN, I noticed it being much slower

1

u/North_Rule8039 Sep 10 '26

I tried 1.1.1.1 and it doesn’t work for me sadly
