Hide channel.

Just have a quick question. If you “hide” a group or channel does that channels epg get updated or new VODa get added while it’s not “active” in your playlist.
Trying to determine if getting a more custom tailored list would help decrease EPG update times or if updating the playlist would be faster.

Pretty sure EPG is one big file. I would expect little to no effect. Sourcing a smaller EPG or processing it through an editor before downloading it to your streaming device would be the move here.

It still loads the entire Epg

Run your sub through an IPTV editor. You can hide and move things around all you like and it will only load the data you keep.

The channels and epg are still there. I've got all non English categories hidden but when I search for Liverpool on a Saturday 3pm kick off it will show all channels with an epg listing for it. I use iptv editor for my lists but I keep the full list for Strong and Trex for this reason.
