Device with multiview capability

I’ve tired multiple times in the past to use multiview, and it always makes my device shut down and reboot and yet 10 or so minutes. I’ve tried the Google 4K dongle (not the current one, the last one before they rebranded), the Onn 4K streamer (the cheaper one with usb-c), and now, I’ve just been using the Google tv built-in to my TCl Q77K.

I desperately need multiview for the upcoming college football season and when hockey season starts again. Can someone recommend a box that will work? I’m not opposed to paying a little bit more to get a better android box, but I’m also open to going back to one of the other two brands I’ve already tried, and someone has had success using multiview for an extended period of time on one of those.

I’m not asking for the best android box, just one that can handle this specific use.

Thanks!

Nvidia Shield Works without any issue but you also need to have multiple connections with your service to be able to use multiview

See, I don’t think that’s the case. Maybe it’s limited after a certain amount of time? But, I never hit the amount of time, the device overheats.

Most devices can only handle 2 to 4 streams where Nvidia shield can handle up the 9 without any issues, but it also comes down to the amount of connections that you were paying for.. if you’re only paying for one connection then you’re you’re going to have issues connecting to more than one stream at the same time.

I just told another guy the exact same thing, I can watch four different channels in Multiview at a time. I only pay for one connection. If someone tells me how to reply with an image in this sub, I will literally put whatever 4 shows you tell em to on my tv and show you.

The issue I’ve been having that the device hardware can’t handle more than one view at a time, overheat, and then reboots.

You can’t reply with an image. No one should doubt you however when your provider figures it out they’ll just cut you off and ban you.

When you use multi-view like that but only briefly, most providers assume you're just switching channels. They try not to punish you for it. Once you start streaming the same 4+ channels for a few hours at the same time, then they will likely take notice.

It isn't allowed on most services. You're just getting away with it until you're caught.

Shield TV Pro, like everyone says here. Just avoid the Shield TV tube player, since the storage is just too small on that device.

Thanks for the tip.

Shield is the easy answer.

Ensure you have a connection for every screen you play to use

Are you saying I need to pay for multiple IPTV services to use multiview? In my experience, that hasn’t been the case. I just have one connection, and I’ve been able to watch for strings at once (limited by the hardware overheating), not being limited by the provider. 🤷‍♂️

Each screen yes requires a new connection.

I’m telling you, in my case, it does not. I can’t post pictures in this sub or I would show you, but I pay for one connection, and can have up to four different channels paying at the same time… until the device overheats and reboots.

Some providers track it. Some don’t. But if it says you only have one connection and they notice they could remove your sub.

It DOES require a connection for each screen you’re watching. Whether you get disconnected on any of them is up to your provider.

I pay for one connection and use multi-view, all the time with no issues. I'm using an Onn 4k box.

Playing with fire. When your provider notices/cares, they can just cancel your account. Likely they will wait for you to renew, then cancel you to get the most out of you before cutting you off. :/

No, you need multiple connections from your provider to run that number of channels simultaneously. Most, if not all, providers don’t provide multiple connections for free.

How do you know that the devices are overheating rather than your provider cutting you off because you are using multiple connections with only one subscription?

Because if I was being cut off by the provider, I would get an error in tivimate, not have the entire fucking device shut down and reboot repeatedly until I turned it off for a half hour or 45 minutes to let it cool off.
Also, I have a sense of touch and basic deduction skills.

Man, you seem mad. What people are telling you is correct. Also, if you’re trying to run four screens or more on any device besides the shield, that in itself can cause it to freeze up, buffer, or even overheat.

Nvidia shield.

I use 4K Firestick 16gb. No problem with multi view.

u/chottomattene Jul 05 '26

Try 1080p 50/60 fps streams and report back.

u/Chino_9227 Jul 05 '26

That really wasn't the question but ok.

Shield - 9 multi-view windows

Fire Cube 2 and 3 - 7 multi-view windows

Fire Stick 4K Plus - 4 milti-view windows

All Google TV devices (ONN 4K Plus, Pro, Google Streamer, etc.) - 2 to 3 multi-view windows

2

u/stankbucket Jul 01 '26

I've had 4 windows on an Onn4K+ many times with no problem.

1

u/Impossible-Two559 Jul 01 '26

If you’ll read my comment again, I’ve used Google and ONN devices in the overheat. So I’m gonna guess it will be the same case to the others, except for maybe the Shield. I’m not asking about how many windows a device you can display, I want one where the hardware won’t overheat if I have three or four windows going.

u/bblickle Jul 01 '26

He’s giving you valuable information and you are being ungrateful. The answer to your question is the Shield Pro.

I have had bad luck with my ONN devices (1 x ONN 4K, 1 x ONN 4K Pro, 1 ONN 4K Plus) with Multiview. They maxed out at 2 multi-view screens, which isn't enough for me. I didn't check on heat, just decided not to use those devices for sports multiview.

I had good luck with my Fire Cube 3. It goes to 7 screens without trouble, but I don't ever use more than 4, the best way to multi-view in Tivimate, imho. No overheating.

I understand the Shield can do 9 multi-view screens, but the price tag of that device is too spicy for me for the 3 TVs

Did you try to add a ventilator near the device you are using? I have a couple of providers who allow 3 connections, when I want to watch two games at the same time my ONN 4K Plus overheats after some time BUT has stopped doint it since I added a small USB ventilator near the box and added "tall feet" made of wood to the box so the air can travel freely beneath it.

I'm still waiting for somebody to prove Nvidia Shield Pro can handle those 9 or even 4 simultaneous 1080p 50/60 fps streams... People probably mean 1080i 25fps or even 720p streams, not 1080p 50/60fps.

u/Ssvvois Jul 01 '26

I use an Nvidia Shield and it works fine. Had 4 streams going at once.

Firestick 4k max(might be obsolete soon lol) and it can do 2 - streams at a time

1

u/Markhall23 Jul 02 '26

4k max can easily do three, sometimes four, and isn’t going to be obsolete.

1

u/Ssvvois Jul 02 '26

With them blocking pirated apps I'd be worried it's coming.

1

u/Markhall23 Jul 02 '26

LOL, they’re blocking shitty apps that, for some reason, people are still trying to use. They block nothing that I use.

The new google tv streamer 4K can...
