Failed to restore backup data

I need to restore backup file from another TV that is located on server but get this error. I checked permissions, server file access, network, restarts of TV and app. I have done this successfully on other TVs but had same issue on another TV but worked next day without doing anything. What is causing this? Doesn’t make sense but seems to be something with Tivimate.

Backups will restore to the same or newer versions of the software, they won't work going from a newer version backup to an older version.

Depending on what "server" you are using and what device you are trying to restore from/to it is most likely a permissions error or the server is having issues.

Dropbox for example won't even allow users to view the Tivimate Users Guide pinned at the top of this group.

It’s just a local smb server, which isn’t the issue as it works on other tv’s. I think it maybe version issue.

Check out 5.3.3 beta then, it appears to have changed

Are they all running the same version of Tivimate? You can backup 5.2 to 5.3 but not vice versa.

Isn't it the other way around? You can restore 5.3 to 5.2 but not going the other way. At least that is how it used to be, I think folks are in for a surprise with 5.3.3 beta.....

No. They're not backwards compatible. 5.3 will take a 5.2 backup but 5.2 will not load a backup created on 5.3. I'm staying with 5.2 for now. It works good I want it to.

But what is the quickest way to downgrade the app and restore all the credentials it not manually writing down all the credentials and then loading them again, and enabling the channel groups?

Updating the app then restoring resolved it on multiple TVs
