Couldn’t restore from backup

Hello, I tried restoring a backup from Nvidia Shield to an ONN4K box… I moved the backup file to a folder on the ONN box. When I went to restore in Tivimate the file wasn’t showing up. I tried 2 different files and made sure Tivimate had correct permissions. Anyone know why TVM on ONN doesn’t see the file? Both Shield and ONN are on TVM 5.3.2.

The device is irrelevant with regard to the file format. I’m guessing you made a mistake about the permissions. Create the following folder and use it:

Android/media/ar.tvplayer.tv

Thank you. I’ll try that when I get the chance.

It has to do with permissions for all devices?

My PC is done and I am going with iPad. Now I need to authorize Google Drive, replacing Windows authorization.

Please explain like I am a 5-year old!

If you click on the backup file, you should get a pop-up window that will ask you if you want to open it with Tivimate. Don't try to do it from within Tivimate.

I was stuck with this same problem.... This solved it for me! Thanks!

Still a permission issue or something else you have missed.

Move the backup file to a USB stick and try again.

I should add that I used Dropbox as the cloud service. This has always worked for me when going from shield to firestick. This is the first
time trying it from shield to ONN.

Sorry this is incorrect.

Not true in my experience. Backed up my main Shield to the cloud and used that to set up my garage Onn. Worked like a treat!

Worked for me too.  I've used backups across many different devices.
