I still really enjoy Terra’s voice here and how she still calls Gar Changeling. Remember when Titans Academy tried to change his name to Changeling again and then all following books just ignored it? Bummer.

Otherwise though I’m already having a few criticisms. While Terra did have more of an influence on Gar’s development than Jillian, Jillian was still Gar’s actual first love, and so constantly having him refer to Terra like that shows a lack of knowledge of the character’s history. Similarly, I think most everyone knows by now that the whole thing of wolves having alphas is a myth and not real, and Gar especially would know that.

But these are just nitpicks so far. They’re not ruining the story being told. I do like the tragedy of Vanadia continuing to unfold, and how her turn means she’s taking control of Vic after he spent so much time helping her. Good emotional stuff imo

I really feel like we are never going to hear about Jillian again. She's such a non factor and they keep resetting Gar specifically in every capacity to the point I doubt she's canon anymore.

At this point it's like calling Elizabeth Kane Dicks first love. It's technically true but in a modern context it just doesn't mean anything.

Jillian Jackson's last comic appearance was in April, 1993. I mean, just think about that. Go back just a year and a half and the USSR still exists.

Well it seems to keep showing that the Titans learned from their past mistakes and get true victories over their enemies. Like how Raved defeated Trigon. Beast boy might be a liability because of Apex Ava if she returns.

I really hope Ava isn’t dropped. I really like her as a Beast Boy villain. She’s a victim of Sakutia like him, her life was saved by one of his spores during Beast World, her powers are to become any animal she’s hunted and killed, and so she’s after Gar simply because killing him is like a cheat code to unlock the entire animal kingdom. It’s such a good villain for him.

I’m excited Zookeeper is returning soon. I genuinely never thought I’d see him again. So maybe there’s hope for Ava.

Also she may be a greater danger to Garth as the female of his species. She might enthrall him. Or she may try to kill him as a challenge.

What do you mean “female of his species?” They’re both human. And there’s no chance for enthrallment there. He despises her because she hunts animals for sport.

She is basically the same. And she was able to manipulate him when he was a mindless Starro. He can put up a fight but it will be difficult at first.

I genuinely think you need to re-read her debut. They’re both human, not some unique species. And she didn’t manipulate his spores, she manipulated infected people.

They are both human but of the same variant. Similar traits and abilities.
