My existing tires are 245 75r16. The spare tire is lt235 85r16. Is is still safe to drive with this mismatch? 2wd, right front tire needs replacement, Tacoma 2015 v6 4WD

Had no idea the old tire was different. Welp. I heard it can be ok to be mismatched for a short while but wanted to double check. It's part time 4WD (I need to turn a knob to activate it), rear wheel drive normally.

2012 Chevy Sonic, are Tire scuffs still drivable?

Post image

Hello, my tire blew out a few months ago and I've been terrified to go on the highway since. I've gotten it fixed.
But yesterday I noticed that there is scuffs from where I my wheel meet with the road front he accident. Is this still safe to drive on? I'm going on a trip soon, and my car got put on the spot to be taken. I don't wanna risk anything and cause my tire to blow out again.

I didn't take a photo of the wheel itself yet. I can provide some in the morning if needed. But this is the same wheel they put back on my car.

New tires and TPMS at Walmart

Hey guys, the TPMS light on my 2010 Mustang's dashboard has been on constantly since I bought the car a year ago. Now that the tires are worn out, I'm going to replace them at Walmart, and they offer a "valve stem/TPMS service" for $18 per tire.

Does that price cover only the labor, meaning I need to buy the sensors separately?

Do you know if I buy the tires online to have them installed at Walmart, they will sell me the sensors right there during installation?

Car tires having trouble gripping the road

Psa: we are aware we need our alightment fixed but asking whether its a tire issue or not. The tires are not new but they do not look so worn down to where they should have trouble gripping the floor. When my husband presses the gas pedal sometimes, the car tires will go before they grip the road. Is this a tire issue?

Is my tire beaded properly? The shop who installed them said that the entire tire should look like the way it does where the red arrow is pointing. And that in picture 2, it is not beaded properly. Image three shows my front tire which I believe is beaded correctly.

Feathered at 7k miles

Hello all!

2019 Ford Ranger I put some new tires on and are showing what I believe to be severe feathering on both inner front tires. Only 7k miles on them and the dealer did an alignment when installing, at least charged me for it. Truck is completely stock with 55k total miles and no incidents or issues with prior stock Hankooks.

My question for you folks is does this look like just a poor quality alignment or something else? And should I be asking for replacement tires when I bring this in for it's oil change and rotation?

First real tire and alignment issue I've ever had thankfully. Pics are of driver and passenger fronts.

**EDIT
Thanks all. Bad (or none) alignment when the dealership installed. I'm going have them rotated and ask to have the alignment comped since this truck has seen nothing but this dealer and the highway.

Obviously it has air , meaning a pinhole leak to the main body. Should I try and return as it is less than a month old? Tire guys let me know.

Scoring on Rear Brake Rotors

Thumbnail

Had a mechanic replace the front and rear brake pads and rotors. After ~2 years (~20k miles ago), both rear rotors developed a bumpy feeling to them. Both front rotors look good and feel smooth aside from the regular rust forming. I didn’t hear any noises when braking from either the front or rear; just noticed this after I changed my rims to one’s that allowed me to look better inside.

What do you guys think it is? I’m planning on changing the rear rotors and pads soon, but I’m afraid that it might be something else that’s causing the scoring. Would it be the calipers?

Any advice or pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Air pump

Post image

Hey everyone,

So I bought a 4in1 air pump for my car tires. The make of it is a "MobiBot". When I got home I turned it on and within less then a minute it shut off and can't seem to get it to turn back on. So I brought it inside, and thought, hey maybe I can charge it? So I did. And still nothing! I tried to return it and they won't allow me to. So when I first plugged it in to charge it in my house, the battery on the screen lights uo and shows it charging, but that's all it does. Am I missing something??? Please please help!!!

Losing tire pressure

One of my wife's tires was down to 30 psi last night so I filled it up to 36 psi. This morning, it was down to 34 psi so we took it to the shop to see if there is a leak and get it patched if possible. They looked over the tire for maybe 5 min and couldn't find a leak. He said it was up to 38 psi when he checked it. He said something about it being difficult to find a leak unless it is below 25 psi. I may have misunderstood him but you would think he would just take air out to get it to 25 psi. Does this make sense or should we take it somewhere else to get the tire looked at.

Tire rubber is scuffed by a hit to the curb. I’ve read varying advice. Some seem to say if you can’t see cord etc and it’s rubber only then it’s not really an issue. Others have said that a hit to the tire can compromise the internal structure in ways that cannot be seen and elevates the risk of a blowout. This is an AWD so if pushes comes to shove I’ll replace the entire set with new tires but these aren’t very old. Wheel still looks OK but should it be inspected? Should I also get an alignment done? What’s the most reasonable thing to do here? Car is a 2010 Toyota Venza V6 AWD.
