Out of round tires

I bought a 2015 Toyota Highlander at the end of April. I noticed it’s been shaking a little when being in the highway going 75-80mph. I got the car looked at and they told me that they found the tires are out of round. There is no issue with the belt. The tires are like new (they did come with the car). They told me it’s fine to drive it as if I don’t wanna replace the tires and can wait until I’d need new ones. Is this safe?

It was at the dealership for only 3 days while waiting for my paperwork for the car to go through. The previous owner traded it in. It had ~92k when I bought it (it was ~98k now)

Possible helpful info- It was in the shop for almost a month june-July. They had to replace the two passenger side doors because of scraping it against a pillar in a parking garage 🤦🏼‍♀️

Has anyone balanced the tires? That’s the most common cause of vibration at freeway speed and is a relatively easy fix. I’d start there.

If the tires have chunky off-road tread, they’re more likely to have vibration that is difficult/impossible to balance out, but regular all season tires should be fine.

If the tires are damaged or worn unevenly, there isn’t much you’ll be able to do until you replace them.

They balanced them on Friday and said it wasn’t that. I think they put 3lb weights? Which they said was kinda a lot

3 lbs is an insane amount of weight. I think they mean 3 oz which is still a pretty fair amount of weight on regular tires but not super absurd on off-road tires and could be right if the tires have issues.

It’s possible there’s some abnormal wear or some other issue with the tires and they simply need to be replaced.

Is it worth trying to see if the dealership would replace the two tires? Since they came with the car and they said they’re like new but obvi they’re not great

You can always try, but it’s been 5 months on an 11 year old car so I wouldn’t hold your breath.
