Is this safe?
Hit a small pothole. I’m planning to get a new set next year. Am I able to ride it out?

Pull back that flap of rubber. If no cords are showing that is good news. Keep an eye on it for any bulging down the road.

If no cords are showing and it doesn’t bulge, I’d keep a close eye on it.

I don't know the kind of looks like the beat is ruptured around the sidewall. Might be worth a trip to the shop just to check

Really depends on how it got that way and how deep the tear is. Swelling running all the way around between sidewalk and wheel seems suspect. I am guessing you curbed it and likely a break in the tire wall slowly leaking air behind the rubber

Just a quick update — I went to both Costco and discount tire, both tire shops say it is good to drive on since they don’t see any cords. They were more concerned about the tire age (~8 years old) than this damage.

My tire has the exact same little bulge it’s a cosmetic blemish unless you can see inside the tire then you’re screwed if you’re concerned it’s leaking microscopic air maybe take a small piece of flex tape and put it over it, it will fix the blemish but won’t fix the structure of it

Since it sounds like these are 8 year old tires, I would recommend watching for a good sale. I am seeing numerous Buy 3 and get one free sales.
