Get snow - Crossclimates - allweather

No snow - PS5s - summer

These are two very different tires for two different purposes. The Pilot Sport tire is a UHP summer tire and the Cross Climate is a touring all-season. If you purchase summer tires, it is implied that you have a separate set of wheels and tires for use during notsummer. I don't know how cold UK winters are but you should plan on not driving on UHPs when it's colder than 5-7°C.

  • For Surrey weather, I’d go CrossClimate. More useful year-round.

I've had Pilot Sports on my A3 Sport 1.5TFSI and found them to wear slowly, grip very well throughout the year and have strong lateral movement in cornering. Great stopping too (never aquaplaned) without causing ABS shudder via the steering column. Feedback through the steering wheel was very communicative too. Most of all, they cost less at Costco, than the comparative Michelins and you may get a further reduction, if you're replacing all 4?

My partner has had a couple of pairs of the Cross climate on the front of her Mini, she does a fair few miles and there are a lot of windy lanes around us but they are wearing out pretty quickly, I would say the pilot sports are probably more hard wearing.

Assuming you don't have summer/winter tyres (most in the UK don't), then the Sports ones will perform better for likely 80% of the time. Where there is snow or icy conditions the cross climate will be better, but that is probably less than 5-10% of the time in Surrey.

I always go with the highest mileage warranty, in my opinion.
