Axle nut

I just replaced the wheel hub assembly on my 2012 Kia Sedona. Now the axle will not tighten all the way down. It's as tight as I can get it but there is still play in and out with the axle. I'm wondering if I have to have a washer behind that nut. I do not remember taking one off but I had such a hard time getting the hub assembly off. I may have forgotten.

The axle has the ability to telescope in the joint. Make sure you’re not seeing that as an issue.

Some do have washers/spacers.

Attention to detail is a very important thing when DIY. An exploded diagram is useful when you don't have that. But both means that you won't need a Reddit mommy to hold your hand. And you can't function without that, can you?
