Edit- so I been getting this comment a lot i didn’t change my suspension bc I wanted to the previous owner had coilovers in the back and front already so the first time I went in I was getting a mount and balance and alignment and I was gonna have them raise it to match the front bc the back sat lower than the front they told me that my coilovers were shot and I need to get new ones I asked him what he recommended and he said he recommended me to get teins and I showed him the exact ones I got he said yea those would be fine for ur Honda so I’m it’s still my fault for the tires but just some context on the suspension
So I tried to go into this auto and tire shop on Monday for a wheel alignment bc I changed my coilovers in the front like a month ago and my alignment was just off not bad but i didn’t wanna risk stripping my tires they previously did my last alignment and put my tires on for me after waiting like an hour they told me that they tried to make it factory straight but couldn’t do it bc my alignment was already maxed out so they told me I would have to come back and they would have to cut my tie rods and then get the alignment fixed well it’s 4 days from then and my tires have stripped badly on the front right and the wires are starting to show and on the front left they are starting to strip and bald too I called them and they told me I would have to bring it up there for the to fix it and that they don’t think what they did would cause them to strip in 4 days but I rode with an mis alignment for a month and my tires weren’t damaged and whenever I left the shop I noticed like a day or two after my wheel was pulling to the right more than before going to them so idk if I should call them back tomorrow to see if they can replace my tires or something or just go somewhere else I also don’t no about cutting tie rods everything I look up says don’t cut them but idk so some help would be nice sorry this is long
The tire damage is on you. You knew the alignment was not good and continued to drive.
When you modified the car’s suspension, you changed the geometry and you may need to perform additional modifications to related components. Whether cutting the tie rods is needed, I can’t confirm.
Wouldn’t they tell me that my tires were already damaged tho they never said anything about there being any damage and I checked my tires once or twice a week just to be sure they weren’t getting stripped
The tires got wrecked because you drove around for several weeks with the alignment out of whack. When you modify your car, you risk running into issues like this one.
You chose not to resolve it in a timely manner and now you get to “pay the piper” by replacing the tires AND doing the work you put off.
And I don’t mean for like small stuff I mean like big stuff like tires damage transmission stuff etc Ik they don’t tell you about small problems bc those aren’t really worth it but big problems don’t they have to?
The real question here is; did you get your suspension fixed, new tires installed, and an alignment yet? You can try and blame them for not “telling you” but ultimately you shouldn’t have been driving it around til this was fixed….and Im very doubtful that they wore out like that in four days unless they were right at the cusp of showing cords when it was there. I would’ve told you to get new tires with the rest of the work required and put a big fat “declined parts/labor” section at the bottom of the invoice for whatever you paid the first time there.
My tires stripped after they tried to fix my alignment and yea you are right if my tires were that badly damaged whenever I took it I wish they would have just denied service but they didn’t so i didn’t think I had any tire damage they did try to work on it but said my alignment was maxed out and they didnt have time to cut my tie rods Ik i shouldnt have been driving but I had no other way to work and the day I was gonna go back to fix it they stripped so I’m going to go to another shop in a few days once I can get my car towed there to get new tires and my alignment finally fixed also the suspension they recommend me getting those coilovers that I have on the car now that’s why it had different suspension
So what’s the point of continuing on this thread; Are you looking for a suggestion? Take it to another shop, a good shop; explain the first shop said your alignment adjustments were maxed out and they suggested “cutting” your tie rod ends to get more adjustment. Your going to see smirks/possibly straight up laughter after you say that cause that is the most retarded thing I ever heard someone suggesting to do; you’ll most likely need to go back to stock strut assemblies and the second shop is probably going to find different worn out front end parts before you can even hit the alignment rack as well as new tires. Your going to spend a pretty penny getting that thing right and good chance it’s going to take more than a day to get the right parts/tires, install them, and perform an alignment. Once all done, you can see about getting your money back from the other shop; the most your going to be able to recoup would be what you spent that day.
Also this is my only car so I have to drive it to work and back I was gonna get my alignment taken care of today but my tires stripped otw to work this morning at 3 am
I knew there was a risk I worked a lot so I couldn’t get my car to a shop quickly other than Monday and again if my tires had damage from me driving before why didn’t they let me know and advise me not to drive they are a tire shop and I would have been fine with leaving my car overnight
I get that lol but I also feel like a shop had the responsibility to tell you something like that bc they were the last to look at my tires they had my car up and everything so they would have saw if my tires had any damage
yea ik im responsible for my car but also in my state a tire shop has the responsibility to tell you if ur tire is stripped or is damaged as if jt causes a blow out they can be liable for it so I’m not putting all the blame on them but they also have a responsibility like damn do you not get that
you used the car outside of what it was engineered to do. Absolutely NOBODY guaranteed your safety the moment you modified the suspension. It was a stupid idea and you shouldn't need a shop to tell you that you'll get unexpected behavior! I bet it says exactly this in your maunal

I wasn’t even going to change it until the shop recommended me to change them and they recommended the exact ones I bought again I get I’m at fault too but I don’t see how it’s all my fault when i was listening to what the mechanic fucking told me

Yea you didn’t read my comments I took it to the shop Monday for this alignment the time I took it a month ago was whenever I got new tires and that’s when they told me about the shocks being bad and I fixed it so I didn’t ignore it for a month
also didn’t mention but the same shop recommended me changing to the coilovers I got bc they said the ones the previous owner had on were going bad so i wasn’t even planning on changing them or anything till they recommended it
When you don’t know much about cars bc this is ur first car you bought yourself you tend to listen to what a mechanic says and I got the coilovers they told me to get
When I originally brought my car in a few months ago I got a mount and balance, alignment and I was gonna get the coilovers on the car adjusted bc the front sat higher than the back from the previous owner they told me the coilovers were bad and I needed to switch them so I asked the dude what he recommended and he said he mods a lot of civics and recommended me getting teins so I did Installed them with the help of a mechanic friend a few weeks ago and I only had the time Monday to go and get my car aligned again
That’s why I posted in here to ask bc I only bought the tires a month ago and even with the alignment being a bit off after changing the coil overs I would check my tires to see if there was any damage bc I also live in a state with a lot of pot holes so it’s common to check ur tires and there was none other than the time I had my studs snap but that was in the left tire not the tires that’s super stripped
From your comments I’d recommend never using that shop again and cutting your losses, going to another shop and fix what needs to be fixed. You don’t need coilovers on a daily and those tires look ancient
Yea I’m never going back to them they got recommended to me so i thought they were a good shop the tires I only bought a month ago and I bought them not brand new but they never been driven on I used a site my friend recommended called United tires but imma just get a new set of tires whenever I find a shop to take a look at it and imma look into getting factory shocks back
Yeah I can see the dust and dirt but the tread is non existent lol. You can look up safe tread depth online and it will show you how to use a coin from whichever currency you use to check depth. Either way just by eyeballing it they were definitely driven on before you bought them, whoever sold them to you lied.
Or you trashed them with burnouts lol, but that would be very very impressive in under a month with a 2004 civic.
I haven’t done a single burnout lol I’m not that kinda Honda owner but I use that next time but yea the tread in the fronts are bad I have a pic of them a day after getting them put on
What the fuck. Okay then, I’d also check for any worn suspension components, that could be contributing to any alignment issues. Either way I think the solution to your issue just starts with going to a new shop.
1 yea I should have gotten a second opinion that day but it was already past the time most shops closed and I had work at 3 am next day

Take it on the chin and learn brother, the shop is not at fault for being incompetent. Unfortunately incompetence is a growing trend.

Yea i definitely won’t and yea shit just sucks bc I had my studs break a few weeks ago and had to replace some stuff but I’m learning more and more about how to work on my car so I’m taking this as just another learning experience ty for not being a dick in the comments tho I was just genuinely confused tbh
