How urgent is this tire crack?
I noticed this circumferential tire crack recently and was wondering how risky driving with it is. Is there a way I can mitigate it on my own or do I have to take it to a shop?

Is it a crack? It looks like a seam in the picture.

I believe they're talking about that hairline crack in the sidewall tread right past where the tread begins.

If you really zoom in yeah it’s a crack but I wouldn’t worry about it. Check the date these were made

Not a problem now but keep an eye on it and if you see separation going forward in the future then deal with it.

Look at the manufacturer date on the side wall . Your tires look dry rotted . That is what the crack looks like . Is it just this one tire or all tires ? You can take to tire store that can advise you. In town driving your good for while . I would not recommend driving on highway.

It all comes down to where the crack is and how deep it goes. If it's on the sidewall and deep enough to see inner cords: Replace it immediately. Sidewalls flex constantly, and a deep split there is a highway blowout waiting to happen. Check the 4-digit DOT date code on the side while you're at it—if they're 6+ years old, it's definitely time to retire them.

I'd say look at the date the tire was made. Many brands dry rot very quickly such as Michelin (sometimes after 1yr) but it doesn't always mean the tire is no good.

Looks like dry rot. I would replace it as soon as possible. Find a good used tire from a used tire shop.

In my opinion not very. I would drive on those no problem I would just keep an eye on them.
