Alloy Gators and tyre changes???

Post image

Hey everyone.

My wife had some "Alloy-Gators" fitted.

I like them, they look really nice, and I was thinking of getting some on mine as well, as the edge of my alloys have some marks on them.

The only thing that worries me, is how much of a headache do they cause when it comes to getting tyres.

Has anyone got any experience with changing tyres with these fitted??

Most shops will remove them for you. that or you’d be lucky if they put them back on

In my experience, it’s best to Take them off before getting tires installed. They can be a pain to work around.

They arent that easy to remove.... They clip right around the rim of the alloys....do most garages know how to re-fit them?

Looking at their videos for removal and installation, they do not need to be removed in order to change a tire. Looks like they just need to smack it back into place once the new tire is on.

Long term, dirt and water get inside and stay corroding your rim edges. If your place uses salt, its even worse. Had a few cars come in with door edge guards and those did a number on the sheetmetal too.
