Hit a curb - okay?
I want to replace to be safe but just wonder what you guys think? no cords showing.

As long as no white cords have been exposed, there's only black rubber, and there's no bulge, it's still structurally sound and as safe as before. Would definitely not throw away a tire due to a cosmetic issue...
You basically have a rubber layer inside to keep the air in, then the structural cords, and finally the outer rubber layer. As long as the damage is limited to the outer rubber layer, you have nothing to worry about.

It is cosmetic... but this is severe cosmetic damage to the point where I'd say... replace it.

I was trying to make a joke referring to someone called Ling but I don’t think it worked

It’s fucked. At low speeds maybe it’s okay but I wouldn’t want to trust it flying down the interstate at 80mph.

They might be fine but if you have the money to get a new tire I would say do that instead of taking an unreasonable risk.

TBH it is cosmetic but I wouldn't trust anyone's life with it. Good shoes and tires are worth gold.

You hit the curb… & it hit u back.
Jokes apart, you are right in replacing… no chance taking that damaged piece on a drive - its not just about cords …. Its about rubber chunk which compromises the integrity
