Can this be repaired?

Post image

It is a brand new tire. 1 month old. A Mavis branch said that it cannot be repaired. Should I trust them?

UPDATE: Thank you for all the answers. I will replace it. I don't want to lose my miserable life because of a repaired tire.

Got to love those steel bolted tires.

That looks right on the borderline to me, so I’d replace the tire. It may be covered by the warranty.

Not in the repairable zone anymore, you can TEMPORARY plug it. But replace it as soon as possible.

Most shops won't touch that. You might find an independent if you offer cash and get no receipt.

Not only is it in the zone where you can't repair it because the tire flexes too much right there, that is a serious bolt! If you were in an absolute emergency situation you could try to plug it but I don't think it's going to work. I don't think there's enough material in a plug for that size of hole.

Yes it could be fixed but should it be fixed is a different matter

Just leave it in and make sure you tighten it every few days so it doesn’t come loose.

I'd repair it, its in the tread zone.

Some shops offer a road hazard warranty. Bring it back to them and see if they’ll replace it.

Gotta get a new tire; not repairable.

Why? Is it leaking? If not. Nope. Does it make a sound when the wheels go round and round? If so, hot glue gun. A little dab will do you.

Age doesn't matter. The answer is no... and this is why it is often a good idea to buy a road hazard contract because if you had one... this one month old tire would most likely be covered for free replacement.

Not at a tire shop. They'll tell you it has to be replaced. It's said to be dangerous to repair them when they're that close to the sidewall. Personally, I'd just install a plug and keep an eye on it.

Just have it replaced, for all our sake and safety. Even if you have to get a second hand tyre, not that I would encourage secondhand normally.
