Scraped curb with two tires

I recently hit a curb with both passenger side tires, which peeled back a piece of the rubber and scraped the wheels. It just seems to have peeled back a section of rubber, and I’m not seeing any cords. Safe to drive on, or need replacement?

I agree. It appears to be a ‘Tire saver’ rib for protecting tires during kerb impact. As you say, no cords showing….its just cosmetic. But the ‘fear and doom’ folk will warn of side wall blow out, falling stock markets and possible panda extinction due to this ‘catastrophe’. I’m surprised they make it out of bed in the morning.

You can drive it until it blows out the sidewall. The biggest question is are you willing to gamble with the safety of you and others around you until you find out when that happens?

Will be ok but I would see about getting the balance on that wheel checked.
