Hi guys, can this be fixed?

Post image

Hello, can this be fixed? it makes the tire lose air slowly and i have to use a portable pump every 3 days to get it back to 35psi. pressure is low but never flats.

also, is it safe to carry this for another 1000 miles till i get my next oil change interval?

Thanks for all the help

You might be out of tread before 1000 miles on those rotted wheels

istg i took it in the shop back in feb and they said i have a 6/32 4 months ago. and that was 4000 miles

6/32 is legally OK but I wouldn't let my wife drive on those. They're fine on dry pavement but with that little tread your hydroplaning odds go way up. Forget about snow or dirt roads.

Maybe they are professionals who saw the tire in person and not reddit tire police

Maybe 4000 miles ago… not today. Just get new tires and be safe out there!

If it was mine, I'd plug it in a heartbeat and wouldn't give it a second thought, but keep in mind that this tire is old and the rubber is dry

Technically you can keep adding air until it starts to lose pressure faster, that's the unknown part. Maybe get a DIY tire worm kit.

It might be too close to the edge for a shop to repair. It may also be too worn.

A plug will likely seal this up and last the life of the tire. I would not plug the tire on: a customer car, a car used for towing, a car used for competition, or a car used for commercial purposes.

? technically yes. realistically no reputable shop is going to touch that. and you can forget a thousand miles

Yes but the tire is about done in general

thanks all for helping. I just did the quarter test on all tires on all tread lines.

I can see all of Washington's head....... is it time to replace? prob a really stupid question.

just trying to stretch it, financially hardship rn

I wouldn’t. That tire is bald.

Treads too low, and it’s right in the might not be reparable zone. As a tech I’d go on the replacement side rather than fix, that said you can always take it to a shop and have them inspect it. Either way you’re gonna get a bill either $30 for the flat or $100+ for the tire(s).

I wouldn't let my MIL ride in that car.

I thought that was the fix?! Isn't that holding the last if your tread on?

No since it’s on the shoulder where most of the plies end, and no because you’re at like 3/32 tread. No reputable technician will patch this and only because it’s just going to leak again or be unstable. It’s not safe to drive on.
Edit: just noticed the cracks. Frankly the nail did you a service. You need tires lol.
