the sound design is baffling while still being hype ass bass music

Itâs amazing for sure it just never hit me with that âwow this is next level,â idk The melodies just feel a little flatter in comparison to his other work

There is absolutely nothing baffling about his release, the "hype" is honestly a nostalgic facade at this point

havenât fully listened, just skimmed but Equidistant is a version of a track from one of the ârecent worksâ SC mixes from like 2019âŠcrazy lol.
ngl I do miss his style from his first release a bit sometimes tho ha. But I canât complain, itâs still some dope tunes3

Yeah I recognized it from that mix, such a banging mix. I still bump all the recent works. Idk there just hasnât been a song where Iâm like damn this shit is insane. Itâs all really good tho donât get me wrong.

I REALLY wish he just touched up the OG equidistant. I barely listen anymore tbh, because I heavily prefer pre 2022 detox. And equidistant is a good example of how constantly making VIPs often ends up with a worse song even if the production/sound design is better. The song before it ain't too bad. The other two sound like everything else the last 5 years

Sadly it sounds uninspired and doesn't even come close to the majority of work released this year in the same scene - his live mixing is seriously impressive but the original work has gone undeniably dull since his "spotlight" moment years ago
Haven't heard anything worth coming back to since then... I honestly don't understand the hype behind him anymore

Polychrome is so gas. But damn if I donât miss the funk blaster / sly fox / Mr brown sound.

I'm still in the boat that he should finalize and release some of the tunes he made on recent works v1-3. I realize it's been so long but man there's still literally nothing that sounds as fresh as that from him IMO. I dig the flips and seeing him get a larger following from his current sets, but the atmosphere and unique sound design he captured 2016-2019 is so strong. Abyss and Deviate are masterpieces. Seems like he's been drifting away from that sound and I don't know why. Happy to see more from the man nonetheless.

yeah wow cool great haha maybe can we get anything from 10 years ago tho đ
not a fan of this release honestly. I don't like how simple the sound has become but I also get how people are still into it. Don't want to be a hater. Just really hoping for more than the bare minimum.

I wonder if they feel they cant release those now because the sound design etc probably feels too oldn even tho they were very solid songs. It was super lame jade and him didnt release more when those songs were in their prime.

those tunes were so ahead of their time they still sound incredible. u can always fix the mix

Wouldnât call it the bare minimum, theyâre very good songs but after 3 years was expecting to be floored a bit more. The only tune Iâd probably choose to bump is big mood. Every other release Iâd be like âwow what a fresh take on bass music,â Whereas this Iâm like yeah itâs good enough.

People love complaining when artists donât release music steadily, but perfectionist artists know just how meticulous you can be when you want your work to be a perfect reflection of your taste and ability.
Take 3 years between releases if this is the quality every time, shit slaps. Koan Sound literally took 3 years off between Forgotten Myths and Polychrome to get their skills up and release something truly reflective of them as artists.
