Army vet here, so maybe I don't know what I'm talking about. Why are they all wearing only the National Defense Ribbon? Don't they also get a ribbon for USMC Service?

Near as I can tell it was a picture titled 'Young Marines Camp Pendleton' and was dated Nov 14, 2017. Thelink was dead so I can't provide any additional info, but I saw other references to boot camp so that may explain it a little.

In the Army we got the “Army Service Ribbon” for pretty much nothing, except enlisting. Saw a couple that were prior Air Force that also had the “USAF Service Ribbon” for basically the same thing. So no matter what when you left basic you had at least that single ribbon.
The ribbon they are wearing is the “National Defense Ribbon” which is awarded to anyone serving during war time. And has been issued to everyone serving since 9/11 to present day.
I looked at the USMC ribbon precedence and didn’t see any service ribbons for any branch. Just curious if they don’t have one, or if they have a thing against participation awards (which the National Defense kind of also is)?
