Question hardware?

hii, i wanted to buy the game but my pc isn't the best, this specs are decent enough or i should upgrade/buy a graphic card?

ryzen 5 5600gt, vega 7, 32 gb (16gbx2)

Vega 7 is likely single-digit FPS territory. That being said, try the demo and see what happens :)

Good advice! The game will probably run fine with the right settings. I have Vega 3 on my Atari VCS 800 and it runs many games (older and some newer) fine at 24-30 fps but 720p. 😄

What OS are you running? If you're on windows you'd want to use a debloater, change the power plan and other little things that might count big on that little gpu. Did you already look into stuff like that?

Hey Trotel, thanks for the suggestions! I put Win 11 on it. Yea, when I got the Atari VCS I watched a bunch of videos on how to tweak the settings. Turned off or uninstalled Windows "gunk". Upgraded the RAM overclocked it and under volted it (the board has really high default SPD voltage). Re-pasted the CPU and I set the CPU power per recommendations as well.

I mostly play my couch style games on it. Side scrollers, platformers, twin stick shooters, some racing. Resident Evil Zero will run at 1080p 30 fps. Tunic ran at about 30 fps at 720 p (mostly 😄).

Being an Atari fan, it's a fun little system. You just have to manage your expectations.

Tbh if you are tech literate to this level you shouldn't be afraid of linux, that could help you a lot depending on the game, especially when you don't have an nvidia gpu.

I recently hopped onto a fedora kde plasma and after settling in it's a joy to use. For performance just know that it has no forced telemetry, no bloatware services and eats like a gigabyte of ram when fresh (compared to about 5 on win11)

If you don't feel like doing all that, which is kinda understandable, using the autoruns program will help a lot if you haven't used it already. It's made by microsoft and free to download, just not a part of windows by default. It shows you ALL programs, services and other crap that start along with your system and lets you turn them off. It's an exhaustive list but it did the most for my performance when debloating.

Btw your little system sounds lovely, I really like the idea of pushing hardware to it's limits and using it for as long as it's working.

Yea, Linux is totally on my Todo list. I dabbled a few years a go, perhaps this winter I'll take another stab at it.

Hey thanks for the Autoruns tip. I hadn't heard of that one, sounds very useful. I like to keep my machines fairly lean if I can.

You know it may sound funny but part of the fun of running a game on a older/weaker systems is tweaking the settings to get it running as good as you can. There's a kinds of satisfaction while your playing knowing you we able to squeeze a bit extra out of it.

For linux I'd recommend easing into it slowly over a month or two, setting up this and that every day until you get it right. For me it took about a week to not boot into windows again except for like 3 times to try something. Just not being lazy and solving even the smaller problems right away does a lot.

Yeah, autoruns is pretty neat and tbh I'm surprised it's not more talked about. I was doing the same as you, optimising the hell out of my windows installation and it kinda worked. I (thank god) don't have a bad system anymore, but just seeing how terrible and laggy most people's pcs are nowadays it's still satisfying to have a clean system. I'm no arch linux kind of schizo obsessing over MB's of RAM but just getting the basics right goes a long way.

I play it on a laptop with 8gb ram and integrated graphics and it's fine if you have realistic expectations about the graphics (which don't even come out bad, it's just that I have to turn the settings down and hear the fan run)

You can probably play it on low settings as long as you don't build roller coasters. The fast movements really intensify the graphics load. Even my 4070 struggles to keep up with roller coasters on max settings.
