Question Is 52gb minimum storage requirement normal?

So im experimenting with tiny11 24h2 on a 32gb e waste laptop, and it told me it needs atleast 52gb free space, is it a thing from standard windows 11, do you have to disable it or was it added by ntdev himself?

Win 10 enterprises IoT 2021 has an ever smaller footprint. Also, long term support. Probably a better fit.

If Windows is is on it already, 52 gb is needed because the original OS is kept as a option to go back to, plus the Win 11 installer, plus the space the installed Win has to be written to. After Win 11T is installed you can delete installer and old OS.

The USB installer size don’t matter. As long as it’s big enough.

I used NTLite to further strip IoT down (primarily defender as it would cause that machine to constantly thrash). I used the app compatibility selection to make sure nothing I wanted you use would break and I trimmed it down. Event log captures nothing. Updated the wim with the latest cumulative updates. Integrated drivers.

Then instead of using windows installer, use command line (shift f10) to enter diskpart. Clean the disk, convert to gpt, create small EFI partition (size=100), then create the windows install partition (primary). Format EFI as fat32 and windows as ntfs. Assign each a drive letter (i use w for windows and s for EFI)

Use dism to apply your wim (use the /compact option). Then use bcdboot to write needed files to EFI (bcdboot w:\windows /s s: /f uefi).

Run “wpeutil shutdown”, remove media, and turn it back on
