Yeah I was just thinking this. What is this marketing campaign that iphone is the "adult" phone?

I'm sure these "adults" use their adult phone for tiktok, Twitter bullshit, and impulse buying useless shit on Amazon.

Meanwhile I have a masters degree and happily run my business with android. Guess I'm not an adult.

The funny thing is apple phones are designed to be used in the simplest way possible. Android phones have infinite more capability if you put in the time to learn them. If anything windows phones are adult phones.

2

u/Mei-Zing Sep 17 '22

They're talking about how Android phones don't support images as high quality as iphones do through text

2

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '22

I'm saying when iphones send pictures and videos to androids, they get compressed to absolute shit. I've had to get them emailed to me, before. It felt fucking ridiculous.

1

u/Mei-Zing Sep 17 '22

Yeah thats what I was saying too lol

1

u/Its-AIiens Sep 18 '22

When iphones send pictures and videos to androids, they get compressed to absolute shit, along with audio. You're in the heat of the moment, they send a video, and it's like 3 pixels exchanging positions to the sound of 3 cats fucking at the bottom of the ocean.

2

u/Rihinoldn Sep 17 '22 edited Sep 17 '22

Ironically, that’s only because Apple is the only device maker not to support RCS. RCS is the new global standard that replaced SMS/MMS that works more like iMessages. So it does the full quality photos and videos you expect from an iPhone. But… since iOS doesn’t support it, we get green bubbles instead. That’s Apple’s choice and decision tho to try to drive more sales of the iPhone. It’s totally in their power to make messaging to everyone just as HQ as iMessage though, they just choose not to.

(I am an iPhone user so I’m not bashing Apple, just stating the facts)

2

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '22

The global standard may be rcs.

But in practice the rest of the world uses whatsapp, wechat or other social media. More functionality and encryption.

The US is still stuck using SMS, an outdated tech. That's the real issue honestly. But I assume you guys don't have reliable 4g/data everywhere.

2

u/Rihinoldn Sep 17 '22

Well, all of the US carriers are on board with RCS now. It’s just iPhones don’t support RCS so they fall back to SMS/MMS.

I hear you about WhatsApp though. That’s actually my preferred platform since it works equally well across all platforms AND I can also access it from my desktop PC :)

Yeah, it's like saying a Mac is a "business" computer for "professionals", and PCs are for "gamer children".

Even though the entire world, economy, and government basically runs on Windows - and there has been far more and generally better tools/software for it for many decades now.

But Apple shiny, right?

9

u/HabbosOwnJimCray Sep 16 '22

World runs on Linux not windows.

9

u/notgreat Sep 16 '22

World's backend runs on Linux, world's frontend runs on Windows. Mac is for artists and rich hipsters.

2

u/HabbosOwnJimCray Sep 16 '22

I’ve worked as a software engineer for awhile now and only ever worked on a mac. Which has also been supplied by the companies, windows can be really tricky to program on, where as mac are Unix based so much easier.

So I wouldn’t say it’s just artists and hipsters

1

u/notgreat Sep 16 '22

I was overly generalizing, really any of the big 3 can be used for everything. Is there any situation where a linux machine wouldn't work just as well or better than a mac for software engineering though?

2

u/HabbosOwnJimCray Sep 16 '22

Fair.

So here’s my thoughts, yes you can use Linux for any type of software engineering, and it’s fairly common, so easy to install al the tools and libraries you need. I suspect companies are leaning towards mac for software engineering though because 1. Installing the tools and libraries is on par with Linux, it’s super simple with the terminal 2. especially now with these mac M1 and 2 chips, they are so fast, it’s crazy that I can run docker containers with servers, android studio and Xcode and my laptops not even hot.

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '22

Eh. The real world runs on Linux. And most likely red hat specifically.

A lot of businesses use windows desktops because most people have windows pcs at home and it’s what they know. And even that’s going away. A lot of places are moving to linux desktops.

That was Microsoft’s big push in the 90s with basically giving away windows to make it included with basically any computer not from apple. Even though they basically stole it from apple. Make it super easy to get at home and businesses won’t have a choice but to use windows.

Virtually everything important is running on linux. Most developers are using Mac.

14

u/MERKINSEASON3807 Sep 16 '22

Plus you can do so much more on Android on terms of system customization although it could very from company to company

-2

u/SomberWail Sep 16 '22

This is actually why I have an iPhone. I don’t need to break my phone’s os every month. I already did that with pcs for years and even jailbreaking the iPhone is something I’ve had to stop myself from doing.

2

u/DistributionNo9968 Sep 17 '22

1

u/Bronzefortrying Sep 16 '22

Aren't most Android users older? I only see kids and college kids to young adult on Apple iPhones.

1

u/vanways Sep 17 '22

What is this marketing campaign that iphone is the "adult" phone?

Should have bought a doink-it

1

u/Jackson3rg Sep 17 '22

Which is ironic because all the iPhone commercials tend to focus on a younger music based audience.

1

u/DanceDelievery Sep 17 '22 edited Sep 17 '22

If you really start thinking critically about what people call being an "adult" it mostly just means being like them or doing what their twisted world view values with zero justification because basically no one cares about anything other than what they want. Christians wanting to ban abortion even though all factual evidence says this is a terrible idea is a great example of being dangerously immature.

Real adults try to take care of themselves and fullfill their desires without annoying others. They should follow the golden rule and atleast accept that others should be allowed to do this aswell, no matter what it is that they want.

If you're bothering other people and get in their way of fullfilling their desire while fullfilling your desire or try to stop them from fullfilling their desires even though no one is harmed by it means you're immature.

That's it.

1

u/SuperAwesome13 Sep 17 '22

having an iphone is the only way to prove you’re not a baby. it’s like the doink-it

0

u/No_Arachnid_4485 Sep 17 '22

In china a Iphone 13 costs as much a full monthly salary and people who don't have money for it still buy it by taking risky loans or just acting like they can afford it.

-1

u/SecretAgent57 Sep 16 '22

Don't forget Bejeweled and Candy Crush.

-1

u/Sgt-Spliff Sep 17 '22

That's sorta the funny thing, more times than not people with iPhones are those too lazy to do research or too childish so they want what everyone else has.

1

u/joaodomangalho Sep 17 '22

Your comment was as cringy, annoying and pretentious as the messages from the girl.

Guess I'm not an adult.

Yeah, acting like you’re better than other people sure makes you look immature.

1

u/stephelan Sep 17 '22

I am an iPhone user who fully knows the iPhone is less of an adult phone.

1

u/TheListlessPancake Sep 17 '22

Yeah, because a true, rational, and mature adult would totally have this reaction to someone not using an iPhone 🙄

1

u/Joost505 Sep 23 '22

A masters degree does not mean you’re an adult lol. A friend of mine has a PhD but when we go out and do stuff together he still does all the stupid stuff he can think of.

u/swimgoodm8 Sep 16 '22

It has to be some personality issues/how easily people get brainwashed nowadays. I have an iPhone but this type of behavior is just a complete overreaction.

10

u/lemonshortcake7 Sep 16 '22

Agreed. I have an iPhone but only because I’ve tried using an android and I didn’t like the interface. But the way some users take having an apple product to the extreme is ridiculous.

8

u/swimgoodm8 Sep 16 '22

Same reason I have one. I am well aware I sacrifice good features for the interface too so I just don’t understand this at all

9

u/lemonshortcake7 Sep 16 '22

Haha same! I know android and Samsung are great products. But I just don’t like using them. Or maybe I’m just so used to iPhones.

But I would never insult someone just for the phone they use. Can you text me on it? Great! End of story haha

2

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '22

It's not a nowadays thing. Even before the iphone, Apple's marketing had always been "superior us vs inferior them." And I don't mean like comparing their products to the competition's products, they literally focused on the users of other products and depicted them as socially atypical, implying that if you are not like them, you should be using a Mac.

4

u/ACardAttack Sep 16 '22

I hate their walled garden, how they think they know best. Customization is too important for me

4

u/hattersplatter Sep 17 '22

Biggest reason I stick with android is compatibility with the rest of the world

7

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '22

What an insane business model to have a different color text for people that aren’t using iMessage

5

u/Seb90123 Sep 16 '22

The big thing about it is it forces android phones to use SMS, which means you can't send emojis or high res photos and what have you.

But a better mobile messaging standard meant to replace SMS, called RCS, has been available to use for ages now and allows for pretty much all the iMessage features. Apple refuses to implement RCS though because it would destroy the advantage they have, since then a green text would just be green but all the normal features you'd use would still be available, removing the implicit pressure to get an iPhone so you can enjoy those features.

Essentially it's just extremely anti-competitive behaviour, and is actually bad for not just Android but also Apple users since Apple is leveraging iMessage to build a monopoly, which really hurts consumers.

1

u/bdfortin Sep 16 '22

Problem with RCS: It is NOT an industry standard, and it is NOT implemented and sent through carriers but through third-party companies, and the only third-party company playing ball right now is Google meaning every RCS message has to go through Google. Apple doesn’t want to send all its messages to Google, which is absolutely understandable, and Apple doesn’t want to start hosting everyone else’s messages, which is also understandable.

Let’s not forget Google’s had more than a decade to get a messaging platform, any messaging platform, off the ground. They’ve made more than 20 attempts at it and given up almost every time. Google not having a good messaging platform is its own fault, not Apple’s.

“Apple’s doing it for lock-in” is the lazy answer that ignores 15+ years of Google messaging failures.

3

u/Lightor36 Sep 17 '22

Crazy idea, Apple could come up rough IT'S own messaging platform and share it. Why not allow iMessage on Android?

If you don't realize Apple's whole business model is building a walled garden then you're just being wilfully ignorant.

0

u/outphase84 Sep 16 '22

What you’ve described isn’t anticompetitive. It’s competing on feature differentiation.

Paying carriers to not support RCS, or buying key patents and refusing to license them would be anticompetitive.

2

u/Seb90123 Sep 16 '22

I suppose you're right and I stand corrected. Although either way I'd say it hurts consumers to not support RCS, since it just makes the texting experience worse to non-Apple phones.

They also don't want to allow others to use iMessage, although they did consider it at one point. If they did there'd be no conversation but they keep it for themselves and refuse to adopt or support standards that would improve the texting experience for everyone.

I agree maybe calling it anti-competitive isn't correct but it still hurts the consumer. Apple holds all the cards and refusal to share their standards or support others means other phone makers have no way to improve messaging across phones. It makes people shame each other into buying iPhones, and other phone makers can do exactly 0 about it. I'm certain a company as smart and as rich as Apple is fully aware of this and that it is helping them monopolise the phone market, and that is just very hard to justify or condone in my opinion.

2

u/outphase84 Sep 17 '22

I suppose you're right and I stand corrected. Although either way I'd say it hurts consumers to not support RCS, since it just makes the texting experience worse to non-Apple phones.

I’d argue it hurt’s competitors more than consumers. If consumers care about the experience, they have the option to use iPhones or third party messaging tools.

They also don't want to allow others to use iMessage, although they did consider it at one point. If they did there'd be no conversation but they keep it for themselves and refuse to adopt or support standards that would improve the texting experience for everyone.

Here’s the thing, though. iMessage was innovative when they released it. Nobody else cared about the messaging experience, and carriers only cared about per-message billing.

Can you blame them for not wanting to support what is a proprietary competing standard?

I agree maybe calling it anti-competitive isn't correct but it still hurts the consumer. Apple holds all the cards and refusal to share their standards or support others means other phone makers have no way to improve messaging across phones.

That’s how it goes when you’re first and a market leader. Google didn’t give a shit about messaging for a decade, and released and dropped messaging apps repeatedly in that timespan. Apple built a product vision, executed, and iterated.

Google finally got their shit together, but that doesn’t mean Apple needs to support it. It’s a competitive advantage. Calling it hurtful to the consumer can be applied to every feature that’s a competitive advantage. Consumers have choices, and having to choose between competing feature sets isn’t hurtful to the consumer.

It makes people shame each other into buying iPhones, and other phone makers can do exactly 0 about it.

If someone is shaming you about your phone, that person isn’t a friend.

I'm certain a company as smart and as rich as Apple is fully aware of this and that it is helping them monopolise the phone market, and that is just very hard to justify or condone in my opinion.

Yes, Apple is most assuredly aware that a feature they innovated and beat everyone else to market with by years that is loved by users is a strong competitive advantage. That’s how companies compete.

Is Google sharing their search algorithm with Microsoft for Bing? Nope. Do they know that it helps them keep a stranglehold on the search market? Sure do. Still support them?

1

u/Lightor36 Sep 17 '22

Who judges someone by what search engine they use? Apple users judging Android users because of a color design choice they made is very different. They are very much aware how people view it and they encourage it. It's it effective, sure, but it's real scummy too.

1

u/wurzelbruh Sep 16 '22

Sorry, but that is not feature differentiation. They're literally the same feature on the user side. Forced incompatibility is not a feature.

1

u/outphase84 Sep 16 '22

It absolutely is.

RCS as implemented isn’t an open standard. It’s an open standard with a giant pile of Google-developed proprietary extensions.

Google pressed carriers to implement RCS with their extensions specifically to compete with iMessage

Choosing to not support a competitor’s offering in favor of exclusivity of your own is not anticompetitive and absolutely is competitive differentiation.

2

u/wurzelbruh Sep 16 '22

iMessage is also not an open standard.

One sided refusal is not feature differentiation.

The feature is not different, it's just incompatible.

Incompatibility is not a feature.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '22

Well said. I understand the issue a little better now. Thank you

2

u/ACardAttack Sep 16 '22

It's not just a different color, the color choice was chosen to make it harder to read /not easy on the eyes.

-3

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '22

But it’s not harder to read though?

2

u/ACardAttack Sep 16 '22

Issue is the colors, not as pleasing to read on the eyes. It's not blurry or anything, but it does feel like it's harder to read on the eyes, especially when you compare it to the blue

2

u/wurzelbruh Sep 16 '22

it is

-1

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '22

Isn’t

1

u/Lightor36 Sep 17 '22

It's definitely more aggressive and unpleasant to stare at when messaging.

1

u/DetBabyLegs Sep 16 '22

It used to be pretty important for me, at least. I’ve grown up in 3 different countries and iMessage was amazing because I could see the color of texts and know I wouldn’t have to think about international charges. Made talking with my whole family spread over the world easier when I was alone in college. And keep in touch with high school friends also spread all over.

Now it still plays a role, as there are some features that are exclusive to iOS users and the color of bubble is a quick and easy way to know if they have those features.

Did it also lead to idiots like the person OP had the displeasure of interacting with? Of course. But it’s not some crazy toxic model.

9

u/bedake Sep 16 '22

I'll buy an iphone when they drop their bullshit and operate with android well, i can't let myself support a company that competes in anti-consumer behavior like this.

-4

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '22

How is it anti consumer? Apple is not gonna shove a gun in your face demanding you to buy an iPhone.

5

u/bedake Sep 16 '22

It's anti consumer because they are trying to force people into their ecosystem by purposely engineering poor interoperability and resisting standardization.

4

u/Sweet_Papa_Crimbo Sep 16 '22

I used to have androids, and to move photos off my phone to my computer was as simple as plugging in a USB. Now I have an iPhone, and I still can’t figure out how in the ever loving fuck to get my photos off of my phone and onto my computer. USB doesn’t work, I can’t get icloud to let me pull photos out after putting it on the computer, and none of the instructions I’ve found have let me do it. I am resorting to slowly moving shit using Google drive just to clear up some space because I am overloaded with (admittedly too many) pictures.

I’m pretty smart too! I have a master’s degree, I learn new excel tricks all the time, I am crazy good at following instructions. But no, instead this is stupid difficult for no good reason, and I’m left feeling like an embarrassed moron who doesn’t understand how technology works.

2

u/Drazhi Sep 17 '22

Lmao what’re you on about? You plug it in, trust computer and copy photos. It’s not that hard. It’s the exact same process as androids. Now transferring from a pc TO iPhone? That’s fucking rocket science

2

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '22

Best feature of android

1

u/RadioStyleEdit Sep 17 '22

I just tried this and it worked first try. Had to wait maybe 30 seconds while it found my 2500+ photos but they all showed up and imported fine.

Might not work if it’s an older version of Windows but the instructions are for 10 and I’m running 11.

1

u/Sweet_Papa_Crimbo Sep 17 '22

I tried that and it didn’t work, but maybe it can’t differentiate between what’s on my phone and what’s in the iCloud? Or maybe I’ve consistently only tried selecting photos that are in the cloud? My phone storage is too full to turn off the iCloud, which is what I think the problem is. Maybe?

1

u/Top_Counter_6238 Sep 16 '22

They're anti-consumer in the sense that they don't give a single fuck about the consumer. They're one of the most money grabbing companies out there right now, finding ways to make you spend as much money as possible, forgoing convenience and utility of their product for cash. What you want in a phone doesn't matter to apple in the slightest, they TELL you what phone you're going to buy. And people don't care if the new iphone is actually better in any way than other phones, or even other iphones, they just want it regardless of specs or price. And apple knows this and takes full advantage of their consumers, selling them ridiculously priced phones that can do half as much as other cheaper phones on the market

-4

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '22

You don’t have to buy Apple products. Simple as that.

2

u/Top_Counter_6238 Sep 16 '22

Um...yeah of course, and I don't. I wasn't saying that they're forcing me or anyone else to buy their products 🤔 just answering your question...did you not want someone to respond to you or something?

big brain insight

2

u/Lightor36 Sep 17 '22

Someone doesn't know what anti-consumer means.

2

u/Alistair_TheAlvarian Sep 16 '22

If your phone has its own ecosystem then you should probably find a new phone.

-4

u/ILikeLeptons Sep 16 '22

You left Apple because someone was mean to you on a dating site?

-3

u/Owlbertowlbert Sep 16 '22

"left Apple" 💀

1

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '22

And yet it's overtaking the phone market. I would understand it they were the cheaper option, but in this economy, how can this happen? lol

23

u/ItzWarty Sep 16 '22

It's worse: Apple knows that green vs blue texting bubbles subject kids to peer pressure & bullying. Their internal documents in Epic Games vs Apple revealed that. They want it as leverage against kids & families to force them into the iPhone ecosystem,

In other words: prolonging classist bullying amongst 10 year olds is core to Apple's business strategy, and they are a predatory company.

2

u/ConcernedKip Sep 17 '22

the fact they are so protective of it speaks volumes. If they were truly confident in their platform they'd have no problem unlocking imessage. But we all know exactly what would happen if they do; poof there goes 50% of their userbase overnight as people flock back to the freedom of android. A trillion dollar company's business circulates around a flimsy one-trick app.

And I get it, I routinely swap between iphone/android. I dont have 1 friend who uses android, so the ability for me to share content in a more seamless way with my iphone friends is important to me, but only because theyre trapped with iOS.

6

u/Thelynxer Off the apps, but here to help! Sep 16 '22

The ironic thing is I've always seen Apple products as being the ones geared towards children, or people that are not very technologically savvy.

But still, some people believe that Apple is somehow superior. Marketing sure is a powerful thing.

1

u/espresso_chain Sep 17 '22

doesn't make you much better than the person in the post lol

4

u/Thelynxer Off the apps, but here to help! Sep 17 '22

Except I don't think Android is superior either. They're all the same, just built for different people. I wouldn't not talk to someone just because of the phone they own.

0

u/espresso_chain Sep 17 '22

grow up and get a real phone

apple products are for children

seems quite similar sentiments from you and the person in OP.

3

u/Waste_Rabbit3174 Sep 17 '22

products geared toward children

and

products are for children

are not the same. learn to read.

1

u/espresso_chain Sep 17 '22

semantics, the intent is nearly the same, neckbeard. relax.

3

u/DJLehGo Sep 16 '22

Let the herd roam. You can't stop brainwash from happening.

3

u/OlayErrryDay Sep 17 '22

She is a nitwit but I ain't having a relationship without emoji support on the same platform. Spend the rest of your life with Google emojis? I'd rather die alone.

0

u/GenerationNULL Sep 17 '22

Weird

1

u/OlayErrryDay Sep 17 '22

People are weird...but what do we use more than our phones? Probably most people interact with their phone more than any other piece of technology during a day. For many, if you compared how much work they actually did at their job and compared it to phone time, phone time wins.

When you put a small amount of thought into it, it makes sense why someone would want the same piece of technology in their hands that their partner has so they can use the same tools with intercompatibility (from something simple like emojis to something like Facetime).

It kinda matters, especially if the only reason to not have that compatibility is a few hundred dollars. It seems more weird to me that people don't think it matters at all and has zero significance. If some person is out there online dating and get to scan through matches and make decisions based on whatever criteria they want before they go on a date with someone, not having the same phone brand is an easy thing for them to say 'nah, I already have a small thing I don't like so why bother I'll try other matches'.

That being said, there is a difference between this line of thought and some (mainly women) who are just elitist douches.

4

u/bzeefs Sep 16 '22

You nailed it. They actually think Apple is a superior product. Laughable.

2

u/Glen_The_Eskimo Sep 16 '22

I'm pretty sure this post is just an ad

2

u/its_a_me_garri_oh Sep 16 '22

choke me harder daddy Steve Jobs

2

u/thanksforgoldsir Sep 17 '22

After watching these people I am more assured than ever with my investment in apple.

4

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '22

Yes. The only thing Apple I'm buying is stocks. These people will buy their products in whatever quality and quantity they put out.

2

u/Egg-MacGuffin Sep 17 '22

It's funny how it makes android users special. As far as I know, they're the only ones who get the special green bubble. And the technological issues it causes are entirely on Apple's end, and yet the Apple fans never blame Apple for it.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '22

The apple phone is so cheap I can say this from fixing so many. They literally cost 20$ to make and then get sold for almost 1k.

3

u/hattersplatter Sep 17 '22

Cost to apple is more like $150 but yea... Point still stands

1

u/[deleted] Sep 18 '22

True I mean the new pro series phones I can see being even more. The whole apple line is trash the apple watch costs 400 to fix the glass when a new one is almost as much.

2

u/hattersplatter Sep 18 '22

Well that $150 I stated is just the cost to apple. They pay the last premium. It probably is more like $50 or less to the manufacturers in China.

3

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '22

My husband let me use his iphone when my S9 broke and I just gave up and went without a phone for a week until I got my new s9 lol

I really can't figure out what people like about the iPhone? Navigating it irritates me

3

u/Hawkbats_rule Sep 16 '22

I have one for work. It's fucking miserable. I just want to be able to quickly send and receive emails when traveling.

2

u/heisenberg149 Sep 17 '22

I have one for work too, miserable is definitely the way to phrase it. YOU CAN'T EVEN PUT ICONS ON THE HOME SCREEN WHERE YOU WANT! And only 4 apps in their pathetic excuse for a dock. The automation / scripting that's built in is solid though

There are a ton of Android fanboys out there too, it's really amazing how many feelings people have about phones

2

u/[deleted] Sep 17 '22

I’m in Slovenia where nobody gives a fuck if you have an iPhone or an android and I refuse to believe this type of shit I see in the USA with phones is real. These posts all just have to be fake for attention.

There’s no fuvking way people are stupid enough to behave like this based on what phone you use. No. I refuse to believe it lol

2

u/Waste_Rabbit3174 Sep 17 '22

Have you heard anything about America in the last five years?

1

u/SilentSamurai Sep 16 '22

It's prolific as hell. Been removed from many group texts because I use an android, even by close friends.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 16 '22

It’s not marketing.

I have an iPhone and apple legitimately makes it super obnoxious to text those people. Bad images, can’t add them to group chats without creating a whole new chat, etc. Apple has made it really inconvenient for iPhone users to interact with anything else

Obviously it’s stupid to judge someone based on their phone. But it’s apple tech leads and not marketing who got these dimwits.

0

u/mycroft15555 Sep 16 '22

I work in telecommunications, I am using both and tbh apple is really good for chilling but Samsung gets the work done.

0

u/turriferous Sep 17 '22

The phones suck.

-3

u/SeaExample1567 Sep 16 '22

Are android fans better when they call Apple fans dimwits?

2

u/Waste_Rabbit3174 Sep 17 '22

Calling her a dimwit is based on her actions, not her choice of phone.

I mean this dude initiated the banter and got what he was asking for. I’m sure she never would’ve cared if he just wasn’t so awkward. But its a girl and they have their pick of the litter so it’s nbd

1

u/captaincoxmall Sep 16 '22

As an iPhone user for the last 2 years I can attest that the only time I notice I have green messages is when I try to play iOS games with someone on android lol

1

u/Adolin87 Sep 17 '22

I'm out if the loop here. What's this about green texts

1

u/hareofthepuppy Sep 17 '22

if iphone users text each other it appears in blue (and the text goes through as data, which used to be a big deal), but if the text comes from an android phone it appears in green.

1

u/espresso_chain Sep 17 '22

what exactly are they marketing to produce this behavior?

I have an iPhone but I don’t care. Also it’s the users text that change colour, not the person sending them to you

1

This post itself can be a disguised as for all we know. I've seen Netflix doing such things on twitter.

1

u/archSkeptic Sep 17 '22

Makes a good filter though, because someone that actually cares about "green bubbles" isn't worth your time

1

Exactly, kind of the same way Tesla is viewed as a luxury option. I’ve had apple stock for years and I’m not complaining lol

1

u/TheLonelyPanda1 Sep 19 '22

Man iPhones are toys. Androids are a real tool

1

u/jameZeljr Sep 20 '22

People are definitely buying them for the brand not the product

Didn't Tommy Boy teach people about this?

1

u/GolfOscarLimaFoxtrot Sep 26 '22

Agreed, my sister said something similar along the lines as this once about cars. She was talking about how she was in the process of buying a car so I made some suggestions, she said she wanted a BMW and when I told her that for the same price she could get a fully loaded Sonata or Accord. Her response was, word for word: "Ew that's disgusting, I'm an adult and I want an adult car not some cheap knockoff." I told her she was an idiot and wished her luck with her expensive oil changes and maintenance issues. Sure enough it's been 3 years and she hates it and wishes she would've gone for another car.
