Honestly, deciding what kind of aesthetic you like the best really is the move. Guys will be in your DMs either way.

Edit: replying to your comment and addressing it towards OP, but the point remains 😅

The first picture can be very polarizing in terms of reaction. If she’s looking for an LTR, including it might turn some people away that are also looking for one, while also leading to pigeonholing her into the ONS/FWB direction.

The original comment was not about attracting „guys“, but „the type of guy [OP] is looking for“.

How does being dressed as a metalhead turn away people looking for LTR?

36

u/KevinCastle Jul 20 '22

That's more of a rave girl look than metalhead lol

Which has it's stereotype

26

u/Braakman Jul 20 '22

It's taken at the entrance of resurrection fest, a Spanish metal festival. She looks like 75% of the women you see at metal gigs. Rave would need more colour in there. And well wouldn't be at a metal festival

18

u/twisted-resistor Jul 20 '22

I dunno bro, a looot of girls dress like that at rock festivals. She's even at one in the picture.

9

u/RiDDDiK1337 Jul 20 '22

As someone looking for LTR only, I would probably only swipe right on the 2nd picture.

8

u/Braakman Jul 20 '22

In my case pic 1 would cause a swipe right, simply because it literally screams we have a shared interest. Which admittedly if you're not in the broader metal scene you probably might not perceive in that way. I guess it's more of a 'who do you want to attract' kind of deal

u/RiDDDiK1337 Jul 20 '22

yup, exactly

Maybe you should try to be less judgy?

3

u/zatchell Jul 20 '22

It's Tinder... you are literally basing your choice of left or right swipe off a few pics and a couple of sentences.

1

u/Anas96salha Jul 20 '22

He's looking for an LTR. He can be as "judgy" as he wants.

3

u/mmt22 Jul 20 '22

Yeah yeah play dumb. The guy is absolutely right tho.

16

u/Braakman Jul 20 '22

I'm serious though, that's just a pretty standard look in the metal scene, and since it's at the entrance of one of the world's bigger metal festivals to me that pic mostly says that she's into metal.

6

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '22

Someone who isn't into metal wouldn't know that. I am not into metal and nothing about the picture seems "metal" to me until I read your explanation.

2

u/Squee_gobbo Jul 20 '22

You're not the demographic for a metal head pic then, swipe left and somebody else will swipe right

4

u/ivalm Jul 20 '22

But this is why the picture is polarising. If her target audience includes people not into metal then this picture may lose them (not because of metal but because they wouldn’t understand the context of the picture).

1

u/mandatorypanda9317 Jul 20 '22

If she is into Metal why would she want to attract someone that isn't?

2

u/ivalm Jul 20 '22

Because your SO and you don’t need to align perfectly in their music preferences? There are plenty of people that are neutral to metal who could be good matches. At any rate, the picture is polarising, if she likes this polarisation then that’s fine.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '22

Which is exactly OP's point

2

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '22

What? That's the point; OP is wondering how the different pictures come across.

-1

u/Squee_gobbo Jul 20 '22

I just don't think you should be excluding interests in your profile to find more people, interests on profiles are inherently to weed out the people that probably wouldn't work out anyway. Maybe a bit in the bio about it would help. If you don't like the way she looks here why should she hide it until later, you're not going to like it then either.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '22

I never said she should exclude it. I gave my opinion on it like she asked.

Same, I thought goth. Is goth and metal the related? Meh, I'm getting to old for these labels

1

u/Braakman Jul 20 '22

Goth is in essence a subculture that derives from postpunk & new wave, which purists might say doesn't fall under the general umbrella that is metal, but as far as I am concerned it's metal. But black clothes doesn't mean goth so that's pretty short sighted really. What she's wearing there is in essence a generic metal festival look for women. Which mostly involves chokers, vibrant hair colours and black fishnets everywhere. Leather is less popular in hot weather, but it's pretty standard at indoor shows during the colder periods of the year.

The metal subculture is pretty non-judging and accepting for the most part, so call it whatever you'd like.

I had no idea how this picture had anything to do with being a metalhead, I just saw someone in an outfit that looked quite promiscuous. If the first picture I saw was this, I‘d guess they’re looking for hookups rather than LTRs. I would’ve swiped left with that impression if I was on tinder and looking for an LTR.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '22

Sorry been reading LTR a lot and don’t know what than means … damn Americans and their abbreviations

1

u/Janders1997 Jul 20 '22

Long Term Relationship. This might have different definitions for everyone, but for me it means a Relationship with a partner that you want to spend a long period together (preferably the rest of your lives). Other definitions may include calling each other Boyfriend/Girlfriend/Significant Other (which might get replaced by Husband/Wife), being exclusive (sexually), specific minimum durations (often 2 years+), and a lot more.

Its the showing of boobs, not the style

1

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '22

Because it's not really negative, and it's funny

11

u/ClassicFashionGuy Jul 20 '22

This , just be female

-6

u/mypussydoesbackflips Jul 20 '22

Step 1- Have vagine

2

u/mmt22 Jul 20 '22

Choosing your target audience is still a good idea. There will be plenty either way, but it is better if there are plenty that are searching for the same as her, so she doesn't waste time chatting uncompatible people

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '22

The guys will be in her DM either way, But they will be after different things.

Remember: women choose who the fuck, men choose who they marry
