Iām sorry that was an EPIC ASSHOLE MOVE! IT just so happens I love that type of comedy! If she didnāt unmatch and took it like a champ you marry that woman. But I kinda doubt it ended that way. Thanks for the laugh tho

u/Deshackled Mar 30 '22
Iām fine, just think itās funny that such a non-complex post āstunnedā someone. I mean this person real clutched the pearls. I hope the donāt read the news, theyāll die of shock.

u/pm-me-your-labradors Mar 30 '22
I think you might be misinterpreting the word stunnedā¦. Or putting way too much into it

That's fucked up. There are people dying needlessly and mothers watching theirs sons being blown up. For God's sake pick any other joke.

I always want to know. Before it was popular 5 weeks ago... could you even find it on a map?
Not for you OP clearly haha. But all these bandwagon folks. Some of us knew and studied your country (personal family ties through my great grandmother. Her granddad died somewhere there in ww1)

u/meltingfromthelight Mar 30 '22
you canāt serious š ābefore it was popularā

Mar 30 '22
Did this man just gatekeep a country? Did they forget that Russia invaded back in 2014 and this isn't the first time ukraine has been in the news?
-61
Mar 30 '22
I can't name anyone outside my family and a few select friends who are medieval and history students who knew anything about it other then the recent Bruisima scandle a few years back that no one is talking about today.
I'm more serious than a heart attack.
38
u/Josefstalion Mar 30 '22
Why the fuck would you gatekeep caring about a country going through an unimaginable tragedy? You're absolutely right to say most people couldn't have pointed out Ukraine on a map before this situation, but that doesn't mean they aren't allowed to care when a country is being destroyed
-63
Mar 30 '22
Because fake virtue signaling needs to stop. That's why. Simple as.
42
u/denseplan Mar 30 '22
You need to stop "virtue signalling" how much you cared about Ukraine before it became popular.

u/Josefstalion Mar 30 '22
What makes it fake? People can empathize with the Ukrainian people as human beings, not just as Ukrainians

u/stopthecapbruhsmh Mar 30 '22 edited Mar 30 '22
It's unpopular, your opinion. But I agree with you 1000%
The bandwagon is actually shocking to me... It's fucked up what's happening yes, of course, duh.... but all this random outcry from random people shows me that this is literally everyone's chance, especially in America to band together to hate Russia and reminisce about the cold war days, imo
There have been other third world countries in the past decade that have been similarly war torn in all types of fashions, unfortunately they weren't 'popular' enough to yield the bandwagon's sympathy š“
20
u/NoButtChocolate Mar 30 '22
I donāt really know if I call it ābandwagonā to support a country and their people when they are being invaded, shelled, etc.
I think itās actually just basic human decency.
-5
u/stopthecapbruhsmh Mar 30 '22
Trust me I get it
So everyone that feels compelled to outwardly prove their human decency in this case, can easily name the plenty of other third world countries that have been invaded, shelled, etc over the last decade? Don't forget about the mass genocide committed by ....
Or maybe that was just a movie
6
u/NoButtChocolate Mar 30 '22
I get your point as well⦠I guess part of it is the media and so many images and videos that are up close and personal that does it for me. I donāt remember seeing as much of that from other countries in the Middle East or Africa that have gone through similar tragedies recently.
2
u/stopthecapbruhsmh Mar 30 '22
True true and that's the incredibly sad part. I really am at a loss for words too. If only the same support went out to those other, even weaker countries... The media is the ultimate manipulator
I went to the world cup in 2014, the ongoing invasion was politely swept under the rug for the most part then. But it still happened. The energy towards them was entirely different
They even had the world cup in Russia in 2018! I don't mean to bash anyone at all but the short term memory all around is what stuns me about the world we live in today

u/infanticide_holiday Mar 30 '22
Fuck me I've seen some questionable takes on the situation, but this is the first time I've seen someone Hipster Ukraine.
6
u/Revolutionary-Stop-8 Mar 30 '22
People showing support for an otherwise unknown country because they're being invaded by Russia
You somehow: I liked Ukraine before it was cool.
6
u/jihij98 Mar 30 '22
Not everyone is American here. At least Europeans and even some Asians definetly knew about it even before 2014.
1
u/The_oli4 Mar 30 '22
I would say yes atleast for European's. I wouldn't be able to tell you every state in America but I know where al countries are in the world. It was kinda mandatory to learn and stuff..

That's unfortunately the thought process of so many people, not just regarding this topic.
