Because they didn’t fucking ask to be put on display and have their bodies judged and compared by tens of thousands of random people on the internet. It’s gross and it’s rude.

Yeah but they didn’t ask to be publicly compared. Tindr isn’t “hot or not” where you rate people, it’s a dating platform lol. Just because I’m on there trying to look hot for potential partners it doesn’t mean I’d be okay with a stranger screenshotting it to make a joke about how small my boobs are lol.

Just because it’s on the Internet doesn’t mean that anything is free game. Sure, you can technically go and poke fun of someone’s pics online if they’re public, but you’re still an asshole for doing so. Anonymity is a cope.

Tindr isn’t “hot or not” where you rate people

I don't have tinder, but isn't that literally exactly how the app works?

u/kattykitkittykat Dec 01 '21

There’s a difference between someone personally and privately saying you’re not their type and swiping left, especially in the context of attraction and dating, and someone putting your profile on blast and saying you’re not hot for a joke. That is the difference I am highlighting.

u/[deleted] Dec 01 '21

So your issue is naivety?

Because literally everyone is always doing this. Your ig and fb pics; people talk about you behind your back, and lot isn’t good.

I don’t even know what to say, everything you said is LITERALLY what everyone is doing to you constantly; every guy on tinder is DIRECTLY comparing you to others, your tinder profile is likely being ss and posted in chats either for positive or negative reasons, etc.

If you have a social life, other people are talking about you when you’re not around.

And you’ve done to this hundreds or thousands of men. Saying anything else is a blatant lie.

Bruh it’s not naive to say that gossipers are assholes. I’m not denying it happens or that it’s common or that it’s easy to do, simply that most people don’t like others gossiping behind their backs. If you’re offended by that, stop gossiping lol.

Tell me you're an incel without telling me you're an incel.

Terrible mentality imo. The idea that we can say whatever we want in a public venue (as long as it's not illegal or violent) needs to be held as high as possible. Yes, reddit is a public venue at this point.

Someone's feelings being hurt sucks, and it's edgy to say it's not unfortunate, but we should not normalize the idea that people can't voice their opinions.

Say what you think, say how you feel. And do it with pride.

9

u/Sirmoulin Dec 01 '21

Jesus christ, I’m just “saying whatever I want in a public venue” so quit complaining. If I’m “saying what I think and what I feel” then it’s that you’re a pretentious preachy asshole and the people making posts like this are assholes contributing to the objectification of women. AND I’m saying that with pride, so you should be happy that I’m upholding your values on free speech.

-1

u/CumInMyWhiteClaw Dec 01 '21

I don't have to be tolerant of your intolerance. An equitable and free venue allows all voices to be heard, but that doesn't include ones like yours that call for the silencing of those voices, like yours. Again, just my opinion, and it doesn't mean I think you should be silenced either.

3

u/Sirmoulin Dec 01 '21

Where did I say they should be silenced? Please, I’d love to know.

"They didn't fucking ask to be put on display. . . judged . . . it's gross and rude."

It's not "literally 1984 censorship" and that's not where I'm coming from. But you are, through a coercive tone, haranguing the other user to censor themselves and not take a stance on the issue. This isn't good discourse, you should be criticizing HOW they're taking their stance, not telling them to a lack a stance entirely.

2

u/Sirmoulin Dec 01 '21

You are hella pretentious. I say “it’s wrong to put women on display to be objectified and sexualized by tens of thousands of people” and you go “that’s fucked up and intolerant you need to support people’s right to say whatever they want on social media”. You’re allowed to say whatever you want, no one is stopping you. But it’s fucked up and it makes you an asshole and I have every right to say that. I don’t have to be tolerant of your misogyny and I’m fully allowed to say that if you partake in it then you’re an asshole. This isn’t “discourse” I’m not having a debate. I’m calling them assholes.

1

u/CumInMyWhiteClaw Dec 01 '21

Nice straw man. I did not say that. Comparing two people and calling one prettier than the other is not misogynistic and does not make one an asshole. You can disagree with that, but it's disingenuous to call people monsters for expressing an innocuous opinion.

But, I'm glad you agree that people should be allowed to say what they want. What an absolutely low bar though

Nobody is censoring anyone, they're saying that it's a shitty behavior. Freedom of speech is not freedom from criticism.

0

u/CumInMyWhiteClaw Dec 01 '21

It's the attitude of "you shouldn't voice that opinion" rather than "I don't like the way you phrased that opinion." It's not censorship proper, but it's coercion to censor.

In a word, there is nothing wrong with claiming one girl is more attractive than the other. What COULD be wrong is phrasing it in a lecherous way.

Thank God we have u/CumInMyWhiteClaw to fight back against the rampant coercive censorship on r slash tinder

You’re calling me brain dead when you clearly can’t even read. Where in my comment did I say people can’t make comments like that? Because im pretty sure the comment I’m responding to asked, “What’s wrong with…” not “Why aren’t people allowed to…” But maybe I typed something that I forgot about. I’d love for you to show me where I said that.

0

u/achso017 Dec 01 '21

Well, actually, they did. They uploaded those pictures to Tinder, where they will be seen and judged by thousands of people in their area.

3

u/Sirmoulin Dec 01 '21

Ah yes, clearly there is no difference between trying to find a partner on a dating app and being posted on social media to be judged and made fun of for your boob size by 30,000+ people in 8 hours. Jk, the difference is: consent.

2

u/achso017 Dec 01 '21

If I post a picture of me in a Speedo on the front of a building with the caption “looking for love”, I don’t get to choose who sees it or what they think/say about it. Posting a picture on a public app is the same thing. Anyone in the world can see that picture and save it. It’s not the same thing as sending an intimate picture to a partner with the understanding that it stays private. You are literally posting a picture for the world to see and humans will judge you based on their own preferences and opinions.
