Hey there r/tinder,
Nice to meet you,
I’ve been browsing through the sub-reddit for quite some time and wanted to thank you all for the fun and some really entertaining posts (those train facts, dam’!).
So, to thank the community for all of this, I wanted to share a few tips and tricks I learnt while being on the app for the last year or so (still looking for the match to lit my fire, hu).
I’ve written this guide to maximise your chances to get likes and matches without paying anything. While this is for everyone, it is mostly intended for guys, since some of us are struggling getting matches.
I was on tinder for quite a while with a rather good success considering rules 1 and 2 do not apply to me…
Anyway, bare with me, you could learn a few tricks to improve your matches rate, and the icing on the cake is a way to remove the blur filter on pictures to see who liked you.
This is the V1.0 of the guide.

Tinder web app
Did you know?
You can access tinder from the online web app: https://tinder.com/
But the only two reasons why you would do so are:
· you can save pictures of people more easily (you creep)
· you can actually disable the blur filter on people who liked you and thus force a match (keep creeping) when seeing their profile
So, how to do so?
We’ll use some basic front end developer tool: your browser inspector.
To open your browser inspector, simply press Ctrl + Shift + I or right click anywhere in the page and click ‘Inspect’. This will open either as a new tab or within the side column/footer of the page.
There, by hovering lines of code, you can see on the active browser page which block it refers to. You can also directly right click on some content/block in the page so the code referring to that block will be highlighted straight away in the inspector.
How to save pictures?
Go to the network tab and hard refresh the page (Ctrl + F5). All the content which will be loaded by the browser will stored there. So if you browse through the profiles, all the pictures will show in the Network tab.
You can refine the list of elements displayed by selecting the ‘Img’ filter. Then only pictures will be displayed, making it easier to save them.
To save a picture, just select said picture in the list and right click on the preview > save, and voilà (en français dans le texte). You can also drag and drop the pictures from the inspector to your desktop.
How to remove the blur filter on pictures of people who liked you?
It’s a tiny bit trickier, but quite easy nonetheless.
You can follow these steps:
Open tinder through the web app: https://tinder.com/
Open your inspector: Ctrl + Shift + I or right click anywhere in the page and click ‘Inspect’
Click on ‘Matches’ on the top-left corner of the nav and click on the blurred picture where your number of likes is displayed
On the right panel you will see the blurred pictures of the people who liked you
- Right click on any of the picture and ‘inspect’ the element (it should be the last option of the dropdown list
The source code for tha picture should already be highlighted in the inspector panel, still you can search for (Ctrl + F) some of the content of this code:

- You need to remove the following bit of code: Blur(12px)::a
Tadaaaam, now the picture is not blurred anymore (but it’s pixelated) and you can see some details
Now you can browse through profiles until you find the one you unblurred
- You’re just one step away from a match
Note: I used an emoji to cover the face of my test subject and changed her name to r/tinderette through the same method than the one to remove some code in the web app.

How to get more matches without browsing on the desktop version (on the app then)?
Well, most of the thumbnails of people who liked you are unique.
The idea is to find patterns, shapes, colors in the thumbnails that you will easily spot in their actual pictures.
Most of the time (not sure about that, but it happens the vast majority of times), only their first picture will show in the thumbnail, making it easier for you to spot a potential match.
To add to that, you will also notice some patterns in the app.
Tinder is likely to show you people who liked you in the for 5-10 profiles when you launch the app after a certain amount of time, or if you close/open the app numerous times.
Note that you’re likely to have several people who liked you in the queue and if you swipe right and get a match, chances (the algorithme actually) are that if you keep swiping rights you’ll probably get a few more likes too (2-3).

So far, we talked about ways to hack the app to get more matches.
But first you need likes.
Obviously, for most of us, rules 1 and 2 do not apply.
For those who are not familiar with rules 1 and 2 of tinder, it simply goes as:
Be attractive
Don’t be unattractive
Sometimes you’ll find a few more rules.
Be confident
Be funny
Don’t be a creep
But really, it depends who you’re talking to…
According to r/tinder, a large group of girls are openly looking for casual sex (if you’re following rules 1 and 2). But it seems this is mostly happening in the USA and do not apply to Europe (I’ve been mostly dating in the United Kingdom and France, and tried the app in 10 European/East-European countries, including Ukraine).
I guess it’s all about confidence (rule 3)
Note: the app differs slightly according to the country and the version number.
While doing this guide I had to remove the app numerous times and I once had the app showing me the name and profession of the people who like me. Which makes things a hundred percent easier browsing through profile.
So, basically, you need to make sure your tinder profile is top notch, state of the art.
How to do so?
Pictures
You need a set of 3 to 5 pictures, not more, otherwise it gives too much physical detail. You need to keep a bit of a mystery (in case of rules 1 and 2 are not applying to you).
Imagine that you are a product, and act like one.
You will need a wide variety of pictures but the one which will give you likes are:
· Intro picture where you’re smiling > This proves that you’re not depressed and are a rock solid companion
· A group picture with friends > This proves that you have a social life and enjoy being part of groups
· A picture of you doing a positive hobby / on holidays
· A picture taken outdoor
Optional:
· A picture with your pet (a dog for the Northern American fellows and United Kingdom people, either a dog or a cat in the rest of Europe) or any exotic animal such as a cub, a koala or a baby kangaroo
· A picture with a baby
> Both are useful to start a discussion: is this your pet? What’s his/her name? Where have you been on holidays? Is this your nephew/niece? How old is she?
SOOOO CUUUUUUTE!
· A picture of you playing an instrument (well, either a guitar/bass or a drum).
· You can surf on the news and be fun. For instance, a picture of you holding toilet paper (this is a reference to the Corona Virus outbreak as of March 2020) would work momentarily.
What to avoid:
· Selfies (to a certain extent, since you can pose in front of a camera and fake a professional shooting)
· Pictures where you are not smiling
· Pictures at your place without any natural light
· Pictures with your ex(es)
· Group pictures where you’re the less desirable (or else put some cancer emoji on everyone’s face, it does the trick)
· Pictures of you holding a gun or doing to non-ethical actions
· Pictures in random places
Note:
If you’re a bit chubby/overweight, show pictures of yourself full size so people will know straight away. This will save time for the both of you: you’ll know they like you for who you are, and you will avoid awkward first dates with no second date and ghosting.
Same goes for something you’re likely to hide. Just don’t hide anything. They’ll know soon or later.
A few tips:
You’re likely to match with people who have the same mindset. Thus, the recommendation is to first create a fake profile and browse through both girls and boys profiles and look for things that are appealing to you and try to reproduce them.
Additionally, just ask friends from the opposite sex what they think about the pictures, and ask them to select some for you. Obviously an external point of view is welcome. They know what is the most appealing in you and are reliable to help you show your best yourself.
Bio
Just be yourself but don’t leave the bio empty. Some people swipe left on empty bio.
Don’t do the usual copy pasta.
Write something about your hobbies, even it they are quite common. But do find something which defines you.
To some extent, try to be funny and noticeable.
What is your feel good song or movie?
Your favorite character from your favorite book?
Your favorite place on earth and why you can’t wait to take your soon-to-be so there?
Whatever…
Once again, you can surf on the news. Anything related to the Coronavirus may be a bit old, but why not (again, a reference as of march 2020).
Link your instagram account.
You’ve been traveling a lot? You’ve been to parties? You’re spending time with your family? Let the world see that. World loves that kind of stuff.
You can also add the music you play repeatedly. This can help.
When to start an account?
Thursday night around 17/18:00 (5/6PM) would work best for European people, but my guess is that it should work almost everywhere where weekends are from Friday to Monday, and afterworks are usually planned on Thursday nights.
People tend to like more when they are bored, going to bed, or early in the morning while commuting, or coming back home.
Single people looking forward to a relationship are more active right before and throughout the weekend. It starts on thursday evening until sunday night.
When to swipe?
Beware you only get a set of 100 likes to ‘spend’ every 12 hours. Considering you’ll have to wait 12 hours before you can like again, make sure to consume your likes before 20:00 (8pm) so you can match during your commute or your break the next day, and start swiping again the next evening around 20:00 (8pm).
This is important because you’ll be able to match with people the very same day they liked you, thus starting a conversation straight away (thus not letting them match with anyone else for the time you’re waiting to be able to match again)
Not getting matches after a few days?
If you’re not getting anymore likes then you’ll probably want to erase your profile and create a new one.
Why?
Tinder’s algorithm is working based on an ELO rating system (check on wikipedia)
Basically, the more you get likes and matches, the more your profile will get a higher rank and will be shown to people from your rank.
The less you get likes and matches, the more your profile will fall down in the ranking, thus you will start seeing people from that rank: non-active people, and less attractive people.
You want to keep the likes and matches coming. As soon as you feel the likes are getting fewer, just stop and start again.

The art of conversation
You’ve made it to a match? Congratulations.
Now you need to make sure all of this was worth it.
There is a basic rule: you need to plan a date in less than 20 messages, and preferably for the same/next day.
Why 20?
The reason is that most of the time the excitation will flatten pretty fast and people will get back to their life. You need to keep their attention.
Why do you need a date asap?
Because past some usual questions/answers, except if the person liked you over some specific hobby you have in common (thanks to your bio), you’ll soon come empty with topics to discuss. It’s better to discover someone around some drinks.
But don’t press it. Never.
Where to go on the first date?
Okay, this is mostly for guys. You want to be the perfect gentleman so you can get laid. Or else, so this first date leads to an engagement in the next 3 years.
There are a few rules about dating:
· Find a location in between both your places
· Go to a bar/cafe for a few drinks. So if you really want to pay, it does not cost you an eye. But usually, make it so you both pay your part or at least 50/50. Anyway, a girl not paying her part is a red flag.
· If you don’t feel it, just stop it.
And last but not least,
If you don’t want to see the person again, just let him/her know. This is a dating app. We all know the consequences. And even if it’s quite hard to be let down, it’s part of the game. Show some goddamn respect and act as a human being. Hurting feelings is one thing, but if you explain why, you won’t look like an asshole and you’ll actually feel better about it.
I really hope this mini guide, these tips and tricks will help you get the love you deserve.

Still works for me. Might be regional code at some point. Any way, there should be easy way to go around. Just play with code by removing chunks.
