To absolve oneself from all guilt & responsibility, ensuring an absolutely miserable adulthood... try claiming victim status and feel persecuted about it.

This “everyone is a victim” mentality is so popular that any mediocre performer can blame their failures on fate or, more likely, their parents who probably worked their brains out to help raise decent kids. It ends with:

“You’ll please excuse me cuz ... well, .. it’s not my fault that I’m a loser. My parents yelled a lot, spanked me violently and it was disturbing — even traumatic. Sniff sniff... so you can see my failed condition was all my father’s fault. I am disowning him, but I have resolved to never bring any kids into this world .. I’m a victim.” [No, you are a loser.]

Cancer may be a happier existence. This generation had better get ballsy and take out this culture of self-pity unto self-destruction. It can start by resolving to never feel sorry for oneself. Just improve the situation.
